Yeah, it's just one of those sports terms that everyone has a different definition for.
If that is your definition, my list would stay the same plus Jarvis

and probably Dumoulin too. Hard to find D-men who are great on 5x5, great on the PK, big, physical, hits, blocks shots, contributes enough offensively, makes very few mistakes, turns 30 in Sept, and only getting paid 4.1M per. Plus(+) 73 for his career.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MTLFAN27</b></div><div>What are you looking for in the offseason if you're the Leafs GM?</div></div>
I'm looking for another finisher (see: Rakell, Kessel, Reinhart (sorta), Hall). Marner can go. A new goalie (Raanta imo). A shake up in the bottom 6 and some new identity (Would love Martinook). Defense can see Holl go, Hutton stays, get some ice tome to sandin and lijegren. New hyman deal, only Spezza stays for the current vets. New 3C to replace Kerfoot (Granlund perhaps)

Hated the Foligno trade when it happened (don't understand the overwhelming love it got) and if he's not back at a reasonable cap hit next year, you literally just pissed away a 1st and two 4ths. Just to be clear, I think Dubas has done an absolutely fantastic job overall, but I was disappointed in his deadline and Foligno being back for cheap is about the only thing that could alleviate that feeling.
Spezza and Hyman for sure, if they'll have us. Wouldn't mind Bogo or Galch coming back either.

Everyone agrees with everything outside Armia or Caufield
50% 50%
At this point Armia can start, if he struggles just a little bit Caufield jumps in ( in an offensive role )

MTL Full Organizontal Depth Chart
I’d assume that Poehling would be higher than Weal & Blandisi on the depth chart, since he was the 15th forward behind Frolík coming out of training camp. Also Olofsson is still likely ahead of Guhle, he’s just out with an injury right now.
And if you’re only using the listed positions instead of the actual positions the rest is good.
For people with Laval but not under NHL contracts right now, I’d put Yannick Veilleux just behind Frolík and Rafaël Harvey-Pinard behind Veilleux. Myšák would be above Khisamutdinov.

Finding Player Values
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MTLFAN27</b></div><div>I have a feeling players won't go for as much at the TDL this year if they're going from a Canadian team to a US based team. Here's my reasoning. Let's take Perry for example going to the Islanders on April 12th, Trade Deadline Day. The Islanders are at 28 games (exactly half of their schedule), by April 12th, the TDL, they will have played 43 games then you take into account the 14 day quarantine period. That would take him to April 26th at the very least. In that 14 day span the Islanders play another 6 games taking them up to 49 games on the season. This means they have 7 regular season games of Perry plus the playoffs. That's my reasoning as to why values in trades between Canadian and US teams will be lower this year. This will also probably lead to Canadian teams who are buyers looking for players from other Canadian teams who are sellers and the same happening in the US. This is also why players with 2 years left on their contract like Mattias Ekholm and Rikard Rakell will be much more valuable at this years TDL.</div></div>
I completely agree. The only thing that might change is the current request being made to curtail the quarantine from 14 to 7 days. The answer should come out in about two weeks. If they do change it to 7 days then I see team being a little more aggressive, if not, then you are right the trades will be within country borders.

Looking back at the major trades of the Sens Rebuild
Karlsson trade: I hated it at the time, however in hindsight it looks fantastic, mainly due to the 1st being top 3 lol. We potentially got our long term 1-2 punch up the middle in Stuetzle and Norris, or at the very least a great 2C and an elite top line LW (no doubt those two will achieve at least that level seeing how they’ve played to date as rookies). Kinda sad Balcers got claimed before he made an impact at the NHL level but he was a serviceable AHLer while he was here. I’m a fan of DeMelo and he was a good partner for Chabot so I’m kinda sad he got traded on, but he was also good while he was here, and Merilainen has a lot of potential. I don’t think he’s played for the big club yet though? I’d like to see him take that step, clearly he’s dominant in U20. Tierney’s been a very reliable guy for us, uncomplainingly taking difficult matchups to shelter the kids and playing all situations. He’d be a good 3C to keep around, or he’ll get dealt at next year’s deadline for even more assets. The 2019 2nd we used to trade up and nab Sogaard who I’m super high on, I do love a 6’7” goalie. Obviously the 2021 2nd should be a pretty decent pick as well (top 40?). Overall a fantastic haul, two top six forwards that are a large part of the future, a reliable middle six guy making the rebuild easier and who could be a good long term complementary piece, two high potential goalie prospects, and another top 40 pick is excellent.
Dzingel trade: it was excellent value at the time but it looks bad in hindsight. I still have faith that Murray could be fine, he’s shown flashes of his old self, hopefully he develops some consistency when we get a half decent D corps in front of him. The 2nd used to get Stepan was ridiculous at the time and even worse now. Duke for the time we had him makes this an auto-win in terms of value, but I can’t help feeling like we squandered the long term potential here.
Hoffman trade always sucked
Giving up Zibby for Brassard was horrendous but we got JBD out of it and he’s looking like Chabot’s long term partner which is excellent, plus Tychonick and I believe the other pick used to jump up and get Sogaard. Great haul.
Brannstrom is great and I like Sokolov as well but I still feel like we were at least a 1st short of fair value for Stone. He’s a top 5 RW, probably top 3 in the league and arguably the most complete player. Brannstrom+Sokolov is not enough compensation.
Duchene trade looked decent at the time but obviously it woulda been better to get the second 1st. Thomson and Abramov are fringe prospects at this point so it looks kinda meh. At least we aren’t stuck paying him 8x8.
I miss Pageau but it was a great haul for him. Greig looks like a direct replacement long term and even though the Hirvonen+Niemela for Kleven trade looks terrible (especially after the WJC), at least Kleven is a decent prospect that adds some more value to this trade.

Looking back at the major trades of the Sens Rebuild
S tier: Karlsson trade. Losing Karl hurt so much, but they got a King's ransom.
A tier: the Brassard for Zibanejad trade was horrendous, but Ottawa got a great return for him.
A tier: Pageau was a heart and soul guy, but he was having a career and if he was gonna get 5×5 there was no way he would fit in Ottawa long term. Greig looks like he could be a direct replacement for Pageau, and while trading the Niemela and Hirvonen picks for Kleven is a pretty bad look, Kleven looked really good as a freshman and at the World Juniors.
C tier: Dzingel trade. Was fantastic value at the time, but they really ruined it. Turned the two 2nds into Stepan who is done for the Season, and Matt Murray who unfortunately is very healthy.
D tier: the Duchene trade looked great at the time, but it's not looking nearly as good. Lassi is looking more like a Bottom pair than a top 4 guy, and I don't think either prospect has much of a future in Ottawa. Davidsson has barely played hockey the last couple of years, and while I think Abramov will be an NHL player, I don't think it will be with Ottawa.
Z tier: I like Sokolov, and I really think Brannstrom will be a really good player, but they didn't get even remotely close to good Value for Stone. Trading a player of his level when he should have been the next captain is completely inexcusable, and not getting good value makes it way worse.

Probably a second and a decent prospect. I agree with you on that but Goodrow and Coleman but they had an extra year on their deals so they were available for two playoff runs so I think they're worth a bit more. When Tatar breaks out and plays better I imagine he'd be worth similar to what Vancouver gave up for Toffoli last year.

Don't be set with one good goalie prospect in the pipeline. Some good competition is always good. Then whatever one develops slower you can trade for other assets - that's how a rebuild works. Although I agree I wouldn't make the focal point of the deal a goalie prospect, but I wouldn't throw one out just because a good ones in it.

I'd say Goodrow and Coleman were special cases. Neither GM was in a position of having to trade either, where as MTL might be with Danault if things head south. And they both came with an extra year at a super team friendly AAV for the roles they play. I don't want to put a price on Danault, but without an extension, even a first alone is high.
