agreed on the Laine not being a centre. I thought it was an overpay, I'd probably remove the first

probably, but yeah any trade would probably involve a goalie coming back. Samsonov probably has the best cieling among any possible trade candidates.

I think Samy could be motivating to a team looking for a #1 when they only have 2 & 3 in Monty and Primeau.</div></div>
Monty has been playing better than Samsonov. Samsonov would come in and be number 2.

Goalie move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>How would you change?</div></div>
probably an incentive for a developing team like Mtl. A pick or prospect. But honestly, can't see them doing this. Anderson is still a 20 goal scorer at his height and weight and speed. The assets he has are harder to replace than the assets Campbell has. Campbell would be the third goalie in the mix, and it'd be subtracting a 27yo and adding a 32yo to Allen's 33 and Primeau's inexperienced 25yo.
I honestly don't see Montembeault being moved without a high pick. I don't beleive Kent Hughes would make a trade that would involve assets that would bring Montembeault's price down. Maybe with Allen to void retention, but not Montembeault at $1M.
If this trade is done, two years later when Fowler and Dobes are coming up, Allen is 35 and probably done. Campbell is 33 and probably done(also how would he handle the media?), and Primeau is 27. It just doesn't feel like a win for Montreal at all.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TJTwolf</b></div><div>Plus Prosvetov is doing fine so far.</div></div>
Agreed. Seeing as Provetsov is doing well steeping up, it negates the trade. However, with Francouz in fa next year, Allen at below $2M could be great for 30 games. He'd likely be cheaper than re-signing PF.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lafleur10</b></div><div>The only way I can see this deal happening is if we have like 10 teams on the phone, each trying to get Monahan from us, offering more and more value deals. Like the Av's call, make an offer, and we turn to the Rangers and go "This is what we're being offered right now, top that"</div></div>
I hope a bidding war of desperation like that happens. It'd honestly make me so happy. One can dream, but in the meantime I will sit back, extend my finger, and laugh at Brad Treliving for a giving Mtl a free Monahab.

though it's true Monahan could be of interest to many teams, I wouldn't want to give up this much in a bidding war and I'm a Habs fan.

the cap does even itself out. Mostly did this to attract the Edmonton fans, but atp they'd probably be happy with any trade.

8 more years with movement clauses at $10.5M is a tough pill to swallow. It's a move that could handicap a Habs team looking to lock up a Guhle, Barron, Xhekaj. I'd revisit this once Guhle is signed.

Garland no longer on the block
Roy, Heineman, Ylonen, Armia, Pezzetta are all fighting for spots on this Habs team. 1 of then is here to up trade value. The others are young. Adding to this jam is not something I'd think Mtl would want to do, and taking Kovacevic is not going to make the Habs say yes.

it's not happening. Reaves is one of the worst NHL players, worse than a lot of rookies. He hasn't even shown he'll step up when needed. Which he'll be paid for for the next 3 years. No thanks. Pezzetta is worth more.
