A new realistic offseason attempt
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ira</b></div><div>Same here bud, issue is talks have froze with his agent</div></div>
True. But it all can be a negotiation tactic. Pens are focused on Letang and want to get him done before Malkin so they know how much they can spend reasonably.
I personally would go
58 4 x $8.35M
71 3 x $7.1M

Overall good job tho</div></div>
I totally forgot about Heinen he's in my other ones before this one probably would resign him and replace with Rodrigures because he's more constitant

I would avoid Anderson at all cost. He is so streaky. He’ll score 20g in 30games then won’t score for 52 games. If I’m the Penguins I shoot for BG (should be cheap) and keep Marino who was amazing in the playoffs.

Anderson, Allen, Petry for Marino, Poulin, Kapanen, 1st, 2nd
Pittsburgh is giving up far too much. It also doesn't really help the Penguins on the ice, and certainly not on the cap side.

I think so. He has been starting to decline and the injuries of late and just the way he plays might be catching up to him. He's at the age that defensive defensemen start to decline. Probably better to trade him over MP and Matheson to make room for POJ. Especially if the idea is to get younger and faster.

Foxy is a bit of a mystery. He shows flashes of offensive skill, but he’s been locked in a “defensive center” box dragging guys like Comeau around. He has had looks with offensive wingers, just not really guys that drive play or create offense if that makes sense. We have too many players on our team that require other guys to create for them. Would love to see him get and opportunity somewhere else. Main reason I said to include him was cap going back tho

I can respect that. Tired of seeing posters be so negative or say things with such certainties as they work in their team’s front office. I can tell you put some level analysis into this post which is why I commented on the other user.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>heldorack</b></div><div>1) Gudbranson is one of the worst dmen in the league right now, his contract is the only reason he's still in the league, so hell no don't give Kulak for him, it's a waste of money and space
2) Galchenyuk has been bad for the last 3 seasons and he needs top 6 minutes to gain back his confidence and maybe bounce back, which he will not get in Montreal. I know Byron costs a lot but Chucky is not the answer to replace him, i'd rather just get picks for Byron than getting Galchenyuk.
3) Vancouver would never do that, Miller fits way better in the team and is slightly better than Tatar and they don't need to trade him to fit the cap next year, cause it will be easier to trade Eriksson away and you have a lot of big contracts coming out so they'll be alright to sign Demko and Pettersson
4) maybe the only trade i'd say both team could say yes, if Montreal is not a playoff contender at the trade deadline. Which i doubt a lot but who knows</div></div>

Realistic Pens outlook
No, No, Yes and No.
Riokola is a top 5, 7th Defender in the NHL, IMO. Can play both LHD and RHD equally as well. Can slide into either the 2nd or 3rd pairing and be trusted with those minutes. Even though he’s played limited games. He hasn’t played sheltered limited minutes. Played 17 minutes a game last year and 16 the year b4. He came over from Europe at 25 years old, 2 years ago, as one of the most sought after FA signings. His underlying numbers and analytics are great. And has good numbers if u run them out to a full season. He can easily be a 3rd pairing D on a lot of NHL teams. But is great 7th Defensemen. He was just rewarded this offseason with that 1.25M contract cause the organization thinks highly of him. He’s just getting his feet wet in the NHL game. It takes time for defenders from Europe. Smaller Ice surface, much more physical game, not all about speed. We use the boards so much more. Cause the ice surface is smaller and u have too.
We just traded for Zucker. He had 12 points in 15 games last year with us when he came over. The Pens have been trying to trade for him for 3 years now. I’m sure they want to give him atleast a full season on Geno’s or SIds line. He’s scored 20 goals plus in 5 out of his 1st 6 seasons too. And we gave up a 1st round pick and a top 75 prospect in Calen Addison. I doubt the Pens turn around and trade him. Especially after the 12 points in 15 games with us last year.
Casey DeSmith > C.Anderson right now. He’s a very capable NHL back-up goalie. Hes done it!! He’s proved it!! His stats prove it!! And one of the team’s strengths is our goalies not taking up a ton of cap space. We don’t need Anderson. If Jarry plays like he played last year, we have a good shot. If he plays bad. We are F-ed anyways no matter who the back-up is. The Pens are committed to playing him.
Trading Ceci is fine..lol. But it’s Matheson/Ruthwedel, Ceci platoon as the roster is right now. So they say. And the 3rd paring is gonna play real 3rd pairing minutes this year. Not like last year with J.Johnson/Shultz. They are gonna play 8-14 minutes a game. Ceci will do fine. IMO, We can find better ways to spend that 1M in cap room. And Maniscalco has a chance of winning that 3rd pairing RHD roster spot in camp. I hope he does!! He’s a part of our future. Ceci and Ruthwedel are not!!
I like the Haula signing though!! Lol. But he would play our 3C. McCann plays better as a wing. We figured that out last year. Put him on the wing and let him do want he does best and just score of the offensive end. And a good two way player too. But he doesn’t need to be a Center and try to carry a line in scoring and playmaking.
