Flames 20-21 flat cap no CBO Philly and Minny trades
Didn't realize Konecny also plays centre. Would give us different options, which is nice.

NYR trade

Both players would fetch 1st round picks at the deadline also.
Hangup today, is cap space, and it being used against those who are tight.
Both players are a 1st plus prospect... if not now then in March.</div></div>
I think the point was that if they're being traded for eachother they are of similar value.

Makes sense, I was just going off some rumblings of a possible Shattenkirk buyout hahah. If he stays then Rangers do not have a need on D for sure. But you have piqued my interest on Hajek. I'll have to take a look at him. Haven't heard that name before.

Personally I think the Rangers could have a great year with the moves they made, I don't think they will risk going in with such a young defense corps. It's always good to have depth and experience especially at that position. If Shattenkirk is bought out or moved I can't see them running two rookies without any depth in case of injury. But I also have no idea about Hajek, and how he could do as a rookie. I think Fox will make it on the bottom pairing and will get opportunity for you guys with the 2nd pp unit.

Not for one year of Kreider, especially with a dman who can play top pairing coming the other way on a similar one year deal and both of similar age.

Speculation that the Rangers may buy out Shattenkirk in order to create caproom. Brodie would help shore up the hole left by him and he can play on either side. Preferably the right, whenever I see him play he looks better on the right side anyways.
A trade with NYR most likely doesn't happen if Shatt isn't bought out though.

Realistic or not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rangersandislesfan</b></div><div>This is a 20-man roster ...</div></div>
Well you take this very seriously.....
Fair enough though, we have enough cap room if we sign Vanek to 1mil instead (If Tkachuk needs the term I'm fine with not signing Vanek), to call up Kylington and Dube, but I think they're better off in the minors than riding pine. Give me Lomberg as an extra forward, and Brandon Davidson as an extra defenseman.
Are we happy now?

Kreider and Turris trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mailbackwardz</b></div><div>Rangers are already too crowded on the right side. Pass...</div></div>
Brodie plays on the right with Giordano because of chemistry, but he is also a Left handed shot defense man who has played on either side in the past.

Kreider and Turris trades
I do think we might need to add a little on top of Neal, but not sure what it would be since the value is close especially after the signing of Duchene.
I don't believe they are far off in terms of value when you take into account team need (works out for both team), a year extra and a bit more AAV on Turris's contract, BUT Turris is 2 years younger.
I think the deal is close though so finding that little value to make it work is tough. That being said I could see the deal working out for both teams if they can make it work, and if both players can find their game's again. There's a little more risk with the Turris contract if both players can't , but I do believe he's a better bounce back candidate than Neal, so there's that as well.
I could also just see the Flames standing pat with Neal and hoping that last year was an anomaly.

Nah, just really wanted to land him in Calgary, and I'm a little salty he supposedly nixed a deal with his Limited NTC. Before getting moved to Colorado. He's a great player, and would have checked off a bunch of boxes for our team.

I don't think that cap will work, but that has some of the best depth I've seen on any team. Sign me up for Flames roster that looks like that anyday.

Flames 18-19
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Ultimate_Pielord</b></div><div>Why can't Flames lineups ever leave the 3M line alone? In terms of defense and play driving they were one of the NHL's best lines ast year, often starting a shift in the dzone and ending with an ozone start without giving up any decent chance. Given decent PDO, they probably would've been conclusively anointed the NHL's best second line (except possibly for Beauvillier-Barzal-Eberle in NYI).
Beyond that, 6 years to a nearly 30 winger who needs sheltering is pretty dicey. Especially when he might not even take that deal.</div></div>
Well I'm mainly going off the fact that Peters has said he's going to test Tkachuk out on the top line RW during the preseason and I don't mind him playing up the lineup and putting Backlund and Folik into more of a 3rd line defensive role where they excel, and can also contribute offensively. As well as getting Bennett some skilled linemates to play with and hopefully helping him break out.
JVR fills a need for more scoring in the top 6/powerplay and IMO is a better option than some other players like Neal, Perron, Vanek, Nash (given age and what they will get for contracts). The Flames need goals and to address this by replacing Ferland with Lindholm and Derek Ryan (Who the Flames are rumoured to go in on) just doesn't cut it for me. So a top 6 option at 29 who consistently has put up 54+ points (prorated over 82 games) for the last 6 seasons seems like a good option to me. Not sure why you're so butthurt about him/the contract, Flames need to go after someone that can help push the play and push other players like Backlund and Frolik down the lineup. Instead of signing bottom 6 players who are 30+ years old and hoping that they produce/find that extra gear magically.
"might not even take that deal" - well I guess that's why it's an armchair GM site where we try things out. No need to walk around with a holier than thou attitude. Plus if your a Flames fan do you really want to see our lines glued together like last season where
Gaudreau-Monahan-RW
Tkachuk-Backlund-Folik
Bennett-Jankowski-RW
Are basically attached at the hip all season? I personally don't since it didn't seem to work for us despite the 3M lines great play, I mean we did finish out of the playoffs. But hey, I guess some people like calling it an early season and watching other teams play for the cup in April. I'm looking forward to lines actually getting shuffled when the Flames aren't producing/creating chances in a game. I'd personally prefer spreading out the offense and running 3 scoring lines instead of stacking them all onto two lines. Which is why my lineup is spread out the way it is. Thanks for your opinion though, it was much unappreciated.
