Necas to Montreal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>One of them gets top line minutes at the other doesn't AND Necas plays in a system that strangles offensive talent. Under any other coach, he's a 90-100 point guy</div></div>
Top line minutes if anything is just further proving my point, because then Caufield plays against better competition. One could argue playing with Svech and Kuzy is also better than playing with Suzuki and Slaf so he could have better linemates AND easier competition lmao. He's not better than Caufield who's also coming off a shoulder injury, and still could get 25 goals while also improving his all around game

Necas to Montreal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>It's scrap. A late 1st, a borderline AHLer, and a 2nd isn't value for Necas. Would you take this years Canes 1st, Suzuki, and a 2nd for Caufield? No. Rightfully so. Necas is more valuable as the natural centerman. More valuable position, plus he's coming off a 70 point season, something Caufield has never done and isn't even on pace for this year</div></div>
Wow, you didn’t read anything I said lol. Just reread that paragraph. Also, the best comparison for Barron’s value is Nadeau, not Suzuki. I said above that Calgary’s first, Winnipeg’s first, a second and Barron for Caufield would be fair value. So Nadeau, Canes 2024 and 2025 first and a second for Caufield is fair. I wouldn’t do it, and I explained why above, but it’s not crap at all.
When comparing them at the same age, Caufield has a better production. Necas has a 70 pts season in his fourth season, Caufield will probably score 70 pts next year. And Necas is ass at C, if not, they wouldn’t have putted KK and Kusnetsov at 2c before him. He is just like Newhook. So the more valuable position argument isn’t true.
Again, if you just read (you know, the thing thing you learn in elementary school), you’ll see why Necas for Barron, Winnipeg’s first and a second isn’t scrap, and why Carolina wouldn’t do it
Oh and btw, Caufield is struggling offensively this season, but yet, he has better production then Necas…

Take advantage of the situation Jets fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>Caufield and Montreal are ways away from long term extension: https://montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/nhl/hockey-inside-out/canadiens-and-cole-caufield-dont-appear-to-be-close-on-long-term-deal</div></div>
Oh look the exact same quote from Caufield in that article too
“I don’t think there’s any rush on either side,” Caufield said of the negotiations. “It’ll get done when it gets done. It’s something I’m not too worried about. My focus is on rehab and trying to get better. I’m trying to put (the contract) in the back of my mind, but for sure I think about it every now and then.”
Caufield stressed he’s not concerned, nor should he be, given his bargaining power. “The deal’s going to get done when it does.”
You just proved my point on how ridiculous your thread is! Not being close to a deal is waaaaayyyy different than "butting heads" and "both won't resign with their respective teams" BS.
Caufield is literally saying in both articles that a deal will get done.

Nobokovs Mock Offseason Avalanche
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nobokov</b></div><div>You also raise reasonable questions about the costs of these RFA's, I just happened to be relying on Evolving Hockey's contract projections while also trying to keep things in line with the rest of the market with the whole 32 team mock offseason. Also with trading that 2023 1st I didn't realize Sakic said he wanted to keep it, so good note there. I do think the trade itself is decent value though with Anaheim retaining on both players, getting a top-4 D and middle-6 winger with a proven scoring record at those cap hits will help Colorado a lot.</div></div>
Fair I mean you were using data from a good modeling. The ANA trade though the last thing COL really needs to do is be spending high end assets on a top 4 caliber dman when they have Makar Toews Byram and Girard, and while they are both left shots Girard and Byram can play on the right side, or even better just use the cap space acquired in the trade instead to get Manson back. Kudos though that’s a lot of work and honestly the only real miss you had was Meyers that pretty good. Good job, love ACGM’s that stir good conversation.
