Perunovich should be dealt for sure along with Scandella for cap purposes. I’d like to see the 2024 1st instead of this years 1st rounder go. Kostin I’d be happy to let go of. Not sure what could replace Hofer in value.</div></div>
I didn't want to include guys like Neighbors and Bolduc and I don't know if one of the other prospects gets it done, so I thought Hofer would be a decent middle ground.

Fair because Gurianov has at least proven to be an NHL player, but I really like the idea of Kravtsov with Seguin and Benn and also think Dallas is in the position to roll the dice with that kind of upside play.
They also get to dump some of Khudobin's salary which helps the value.

Markstrom and Binnington are the easy comps. Sakic has said keeping the 23 1st is a priority so they won’t trade it for a Tatar Shattenkirk package. AJ Greer will never play in COL for reference check out what happened in MIL when he was prospect. Ben Meyers is a lock for the bottom 6 as is Maltsev probably. Manson is very likely to be back. Creative but lots of over pays.</div></div>
You also raise reasonable questions about the costs of these RFA's, I just happened to be relying on Evolving Hockey's contract projections while also trying to keep things in line with the rest of the market with the whole 32 team mock offseason. Also with trading that 2023 1st I didn't realize Sakic said he wanted to keep it, so good note there. I do think the trade itself is decent value though with Anaheim retaining on both players, getting a top-4 D and middle-6 winger with a proven scoring record at those cap hits will help Colorado a lot.

I disagree, I do not think the Maple Leafs can afford to trust an unproven young goalie (or afford the asset cost acquiring one of the incredibly rare and valuable proven young goalies) with how important the next few seasons are for them. Also remember how goalies age. 35 years old is hardly the end of the road for many goalies, Tim Thomas was in his prime and the Oilers are off to the WCF with a 40-year old goalie. The Campbell contract is a lot more reasonable than you're making it seem.

Unfortunately I cannot post it today because CapFriendly limits to 10 posts a day, but in the VGK page of my mock offseason you can see how it all works out. The major thing they do to fit under the cap is essentially trust Logan Thompson as a #1. Which I get is a risk but he has played *really* well, they basically trusted him as their primary goalie with their season on the line already, and imagine what VGK could do with a starting goalie costing under $800k.

I mean you legit wouldn't lose him he would basically have to sign that deal or accept his qualifying offer to play in the NHL. I don't get how a deal for a goalie who has played among the best in the NHL since arriving in Toronto (save for a small stretch this season) is sickening when it's only $6MM. Especially when the cap rises in a few years, just as Matthews and Marner need new deals and JT will be off the books, that won't be an insane deal.

They are, it's in my anaheim page that I cannot post. Devils trade Tatar to Anaheim as part of a John Gibson deal. Full deal (which is visible in the ANA page that I can't post yet) is:
NJD acquires G John Gibson, D Josh Mahura from ANA for RW Chase Stillman, 2023 NJD 1st (top-3 protected), G Mackenzie Blackwood, and LW Tomas Tatar.

In my Rangers page, with Detroit as a cap broker (they are paid a pick to do it), Khudobin ends up costing under $1MM, and Gurianov accepts his 1-year qualifying offer after the trade, which helps the Rangers fit under the cap (along with a Nemeth trade, Reaves trade, and using some reliable if a bit vanilla vet minimum guys like Ryan Carpenter and Ryan Murray to fill some holes.) I will say I do like how the Rangers team ended up though.

Liljegren doesn't have arb rights so if he doesn't want to sign a short bridge contract with a decent raise... tough luck for him.
Kase has not proven he can stay healthy as an NHL player and in my opinion he would take that contract to remain in Toronto where he has proven to be a great fit.
Campbell may not be the goalie you'd want to see, but it's clear the players and front office in Toronto really like him, so I don't believe that this is an unreasonable deal when taking into account that it is a generally thin goaltending class.

I’m interested to see where this is going for my Blueshirts because all of my 2022-23 ACGMs don’t see $4.67M allotted to backup goaltender and a middle six wing. Salary is the only reason I’m hesitant to accept that trade but it sounds like you have a plan.</div></div>
The Khudobin trade works because the Rangers use Detroit as a cap broker, but obviously cannot post NYR's page yet as CapFriendly limits me to 10 per day, so the whole mock offseason will have to wait.

None of Rooney, Vesey, Maatta, Roussel, Tierney, Benning or Subban are needed. Trading for Ellers and Johnsson also totally unnecessary with Pinto and Joseph to fill those roles.
Don't like the value on that Fiala trade to begin with, but if he's a 9mil player on his next contract you do not pick up Bill Guerin's calls this summer.</div></div>
That's a reasonable line of thinking, I just went in with the idea that Pierre Dorion is going to want to really try to make a push towards playing competitive hockey deep into next season, and that seems to be the intention he's communicated in his post-season availabilities so far. Eller, for example, gives a veteran 3C option at a cheap acquisition cost who can always be supplanted if Pinto plays better.
There's the general idea here that Ottawa signs some proven veterans to ensure they can compete while also being flexible enough cost-wise to allow for Ottawa's pre-existing talent to take their spots. But it also begs the question, if all of the roles these free agents are filling could be filled internally, why weren't they last year? Why were the Senators still so bad? For a team that I believe feels pressure to begin competing earnestly, it's very difficult to pass up these largely reasonable free agent signings just to rely on internal development.

Couldn't post all the Armchair GM's today, but the Capitals acquire G Robin Lehner from VGK for Samsonov, Alexeyev, 2nd. MacLellan stated in his postseason press conference that his major priority would be adding a veteran goalie, so I thought Lehner would be a decent cost-controlled candidate with Vezina finalist upside, and I don't think Alexeyev and a 2nd is an expensive price to upgrade from Samsonov to Lehner for a win-now team.

Chytil has posted the same amount of points (with 1 point of variance) in literally every season of his career, which is now up to four full seasons. He had a solid 2020-21 but his production did not progress into this season. He will be 23 by the time the season starts and does not have any sort of elite tool (like incredible skating, puck protection) that would allow him to make a major jump, especially given that he has not done so in four (4!) NHL seasons.
In what world does it make sense for a contending team to rely on a 23 point scorer who cannot win faceoffs as the 2C rather than a cost-controlled, established NHL center with twice as good offense and better defense?

Chytil's career high in points is 23. Under Martin St. Louis, Christian Dvorak had 17 points in 21 games, which is 66 point pace. He finished with 33 points in 56 games, which is not only higher than Chytil has ever done (in only 56 games) but also a 48-point pace, more than double Chytil's career high.
AND Dvorak is better defensively. AND Dvorak wins 56.7% of his faceoffs, while Chytil wins only 43%. And the Rangers badly need guys who can win draws.
On what planet is Chytil better than Dvorak? He is worse offensively, defensively, and at the dot. There is literally no argument to be made here. Next.
