<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I will concede that acquiring Kevin Fiala for nothing more that a third-round pick, if possible, would be advantageous, IF you can then move another one of our LW's. But in my opinion, Maxime Comtois has the biggest upside of any of our current LW's, and if Ondrej Kase turns up in training camp 100%, Fiala's acquisition becomes unnecessary.</div></div> Comtois absolutely has upside, which prompted me to sell high despite my wanting to keep him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>With regard to the Reinhart brothers, it should have been clear that I was talking about Griffin, not Sam, because I referred to the $1.25M figure for signing him. As to Sam, you are trading Getzlaf away to acquire him (plus a LhD prospect, which is the last thing Anaheim needs), which requires you to move Rakell into the center, which does not seem to me to be a forward-going move.</div></div> I would've put Rakell as a center anyway. As for Griffin's salary (and all else for that matter), I think I misinterpreted how salaries are displayed on a two year contract I was thinking that the value shown was length of contract and not not annual salary, thus 625,000/ssn which would be 75K short of the 2019-20 minimum.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Replacing Manson with Marincin and Lindholm with Lovejoy is simply cuckoo, and displays an inability to evaluate players properly.</div></div> Nobody said anything about replacing Lindholm... he is still on this roster though I thought inconsistent last season. I hadn't figured out which of the other three to drop and or who to flip any of the other three for (not that I'd expect Lovejoy to be in demand). Perhaps it's because though I thoroughly enjoy hockey yet have never played, but then again I'm also trying to take into account that for good and bad moves some teams or players/agents will play hardball. I do take into account agents and general managers behaviors.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>In short, this team has a wealth of young forwards with great promise, three first-class defenders and a world-class goaltender. Its primary needs are replacements for Kesler and eventually Getzlaf at center and some strong prospects at RhD. That's why I'm hoping we'll be able to draft one of Cozens/Dach/Turcotte/Zegras at #9, Victor Soderstrom or Lassi Thomson at #18, and maybe even Kaedan Korczak at #39.</div></div> Replacements for Getz and Kesler should've happened already, but I wasn't holding my breath... I don't like player drafts in any sport but I do recognize that we do well with the system.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I don't like to be critical of my fellow Ducks fans, but these are some of the worst moves for Anaheim I've ever seen.</div></div>
This is supposed to be a fluid roster even though I've published it. I was concerned with how few draft picks we started out with considering how well the Ducks draft as an organization coupled with a few extra picks so as to bait other teams later. The other considerations include that we don't have a head coach at the time of posting which impacts what type of personnel said coach likes to bring in; and that while sure it would be nice to keep Getz around (granted he was hurt this year especially), the Colgliano move this season opened the door for to make some decisions on the other vets .
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div> Why would we need Fiala when we have Kase? </div></div>
As of this posting, Kase is out indefinitely with that shoulder. Once Kase returns, Fiala is expendable.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Why would we need zero-goals-Rieder when we have Ritchie, who is far better and far more hard-nosed? </div></div>
Call me old fashioned, but the third line is the physical line and Reider is a penalty kill specialist. As for Ritchie, him being a fourth liner was intended as temporary.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Del Zotto and Lovejoy are aging out and Marincin can't stay in the Maple Leafs lineup as a bottom-pairing defenseman. </div></div>
When we got Del Zotto in the first place, I wanted to flip him then - we didn't do a good job of that and I think there is still a window. I want Lovejoy Marincin has a lot of competition in TO and I needed to replace Manson with someone at least in the interim and he platoon with Lovejoy and DelZotto so as to keeping Lindholm in one of the pairings.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Reinhart is the definitive bust and isn't worth signing for the League minimum, let alone $1.25M. Guhle, Comtois and Terry are expected to be part of the future of this organization. </div></div>
If you're talking about Sam, then this is a one year trial by fire - I would have agreed to that before this past season except he was a top producer for the Sabres - even moreso than Skinner! I got to see Guhle in Buffalo quite a bit as well and I don't feel he's a fit in the time he has had it just felt akward. Comtois I thought about keeping but wanted to sell him on a high for a good return (in this case, flipping Guentzel but not sure for what yet... Ritchie would then probably return to second line). Terry has been too inconsistent for my liking despite his potnetial.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Manson is the cornerstone of our defense and the only first-class defender we have on the right side.</div></div>
I could see someone else calling me out on this being the "one move too far" and that's very fair. This move was specifically for the picks. Part of why Marincin was brought in.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Maybe I am supposed to infer from the placement of Lindholm in the "Scratches" that this is a typical idiotic troll post.</div></div>
I like Lindholm, I do. But when we were still competing for Conference Finals and such, we dumped Vatanen instead. It was an even trade for Henrique, but I do think that there was an opportunity to give up less, possibly Kerdiles and something TBNL.
