My very first thought is why would Buffalo do that trade. I could not find an answer.

EP40 the only trade that makes sense for 3OA
Ballsy offer. I think you will get a lot of no ways, but if you dig down deep inside it could be exactly what they need for the future. I personally would make the trade or something similar. It would definitely need to start with the third OA pick and I would want Jiricek. Canucks would have their top C for the future and their top RHD and immediate cap space and flexibility. You guys would be a contender now.

It is not a bad offer for Hoglander but Canucks would ask why bother? We have invested all this time and money into developing him, may as well see what he can do.

Try Garland at Center
I like this idea. I have said a few times he generates scoring chances. How is he on the faceoff is a big question. Puck possession.

New goalie and Defense
The team has no intention of moving him so what we think he is worth does not matter. The Canucks want to make the playoffs next year and more so it won't start by trading their best players. Now if you want Myers back then maybe we can open discussions.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Reubenkincade</b></div><div>I think th NHLPA was concerned about this at the beginning of the season. I think they negotiate the escrow payment down to 50% and take the increase cap of 3 million for this season.
The owners may just say to hell with it and get rid of whatever is owed, allowing for that 5 million you mentioned.
If that were to happen, they have to address OEL, 1 way or another, without a doubt.
I am unsure what this management group thinks, so maybe they just hold onto OEL and think he is the guy needed for next seasons playoff push.
Like most Canucks fans, I am tired of old and slow mistake prone defensemen like OEL and would much rather see someone like Brisebois, or whoever, get a real opportunity. If nothing else,Brisebois has put in his time in the organization, being a good pro.</div></div>
Bries does deserve a real shot and the good thing he is on a one way contract. I am sure if he was sent down he would be picked up on waivers. He will be somewhere of the six to eight placing. Juuls should be there also at the bottom. Minivan mentioned the name Graves. He would be a good add.

Need to see what the salary cap is this year. League says 1 mil but the teams are tired of being handtied. I can see it going up as much as five mil this year if the NHLPA agree. Teams need the flexibility to be able to trade and move contracts.
Canucks can make some big acquirements in the summer and it would start with getting rid of OEL. If FA cannot afford 19 mil over 8 years then this team will be hooped either way. You need to make big moves while Petey Quinn Demko and Kuz are in their prime, and not wait three years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nighthawk</b></div><div>Rather start with a LHD Gavrikov. Bump OEL to 3rd pairing. He needs a big offseason of skating & getting over mobility issues. 3C for sure but lil by lil fine by me.
Still like an OS Byram cost is a 1st 3rd. Make Av’s match. Say 5/6m? If flies then no Gav. If not then fine.
Need to trade Garland for cap. Myers if a neutral trade be best.</div></div>
I don't see them doing an OS. If they do in fact keep OEL I look at it as going backwards. They made some bold moves trading those two draft picks, so following with a return of a player overpaid by 7 mil seems like a dog chasing it's tail.

Kuzmenko and Beauvillier are fun to watch.
Really liking our boys Juulsen and Brisebous, at least for now, they are acceptable as 6 7 or 8 defensemen.</div></div>
Juuls Bries and Wolanen all look good as backups. I agree. I think they are maybe two pieces away from being a solid team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Reubenkincade</b></div><div>Agreed.
I would still like them to clear out at least 1 of Garland and/or Boeser.
Needless to say OEL is a definite concern.
I see CBJ just signed a CHL free agent, hopefully the Canucks can take advantage of that root also, especially with someone with size, like the Columbus guy.</div></div>
This is where I am at right now, Myers after the bonus only cost the Canucks 1 mil so I don't see them moving him and bringing in another five mil Dman. His paly has improved under the new D coach.
OEL is a whole different situation that he needs to be replaced. Place him on LTIR and bring in a new LHD that can handle big minutes. I Like the Canucks forwards and don't think there is a problem scoring so I would leave that alone for now,

Looks like Tocchet agreed. They look like they are playing a more sustainable brand of hockey, unlike the late season surge from the past few years.</div></div>
I don't blame anyone for being skeptical. Lets face it the coaching has sucked for a decade. It seems they have some good coaches in place now. The team finally seems to be having fun and liking each other. There are definite signs of improvement and progress. Hopefully it continues and carries over to the start of next year.

Old man JR . Yep. Better odds than a lotto ticket why not. They have won five straight and you never know who will be the next ST.Louis team to go from zero to hero in one year with a coaching change.
