I think the Islanders get better value trading Varlamov & Mayfield as separate pieces than they would in this deal. They're giving Edmonton their starting goalie and a guy you have slotted into the top pair here (I'd honestly put Bouchard above him but he's gonna get Top 4 minutes and PK time), and getting back Koskinen (he'll backup Sorokin for ten games and then leave in July), Koekkoek (28 year old 7th D who hasn't stuck anywhere else yet), this year's first (probably 15-20 range) and next year's second. If they want both those guys, the Oilers gotta add Savoie to even get the conversation started.

I would like to think Devils would make the playoffs with Vasy in net
They're around the middle of the league in goals for with injuries to their 3 best players (Hughes, Hamilton, Bratt)
They rank 2nd to last in goals against

If we had even league-average goaltending, our goal differential would be in +. We are 11th in limiting number of shots, but 31st in goals allowed. We are 5th in limiting high-danger scoring chances, but last in giving up low- and medium- danger goals.
It’s hard to understate how much of a disaster our goaltending has been.
It has become routine to see team come flying out of the gates, score a couple, play sound defensive, only to see a couple soft goals and the kids lose their mojo. They gotta to learn how to win and can only do that with an NHLer in net. We’d take Koskinen and his cap. But probably not moving Graves.

Honestly, I just can't see us holding on to a playoff spot. It's fun to watch, which is a nice change from the past couple of years, but unless the Kings or Flames poop the bed, it'll be pretty tough to make it. Plus, your Oilers are 6 pts back with 4 games in hand, so it really just depends on which version of the team comes out for the second half.

Blues won't trade Husso while they are in contention. All reports that I have seen have teams calling about Husso but the blues not moving their goalies. If the Blues drop out of contention then maybe the blues trade Husso

Both Manson and Husso would be summertime moves - they're pending UFA's and their teams are currently sitting in playoff positions. Neither will be moved, but both might be able to be added in the summer for just money.
And unless Keith is done (doesn't sound like the case) I'm not sure the Seattle trade has much appeal for Edmonton. We'll see how ready Neimelainen and Broberg are, but they're the future on the left side along with Nurse, so I don't see Edmonton spending real assets on players who aren't going to be needed going forward.

Two of your trades are good, but if we have to move Hampus, I think we'll hold out for a first. He's an excellent defensive defenseman.

But mentioned adding cap? Kosk is a pending ufa along with turris so both are off the books by the time van can even use any of the cap. So again where is this addition cap?

What cap is van gaining here? Resigning yam isn’t going to break any bank certainly cost less than Miller so van is actually gaining cap by that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OwenMd05</b></div><div>lets be realistic now, the ducks arnt a playoff team, currently 3 points ahead of CAL while CAL has 6 games in hand, 6 point ahead of the oilers who also have 6 games in hand, the flames and oilers are both true contenders and the retooling/rebuilding young ducks owuld obtain a valuable asset to carry on with the rebuild, departing with a player who can leave after this year when you know this isnt your all in year, take the first and run. ducks have plenty of years to be a playoff team but verbeek knows better than to rush it lol. kassian is for cap purposes, can flip him in the summer to a east coast team for a 3rd</div></div>
Oh, I'm not saying that Manson shouldn't be traded, I'm saying that Manson should be traded to someone where you don't have a to take back Zack Kassian. Plenty of young players that'll be fighting for ice time next year.
I do get a kick out of the whole "Just flip 'em!" thing though...happends on here all the time. Better idea-You flip him, and it'll cut out the middle man.
As for the playoffs, you're not wrong. There isn't a Ducks fan here that'll say "Oh yeah, we're a bonified playoff team!". There is such a thing as optics though, and helping the team behind you leapfrog you ain't it. The market for Manson will likely be strong enough that they won't have to worry about moving him to Edmonton.

new goalies and the best third line
Idk that we’d necessarily need 2 new goalies I think you go for varlomov and that’s it, skinner is good enough as a backup on a solid contract at 750k, I’d rather see kassian go in a cap dump and you go shore-McLeod-Ryan/sceviour and you maybe use kassian’s cap space to target a right defenceman to replace Barrie

Lol in what world could you even ask for a third rounder for Mrazek?
Aside from that what does this solve for Edmonton? Biggest issue with smith is health just adding term and money to the same problem. Atleast when smith is healthy he’s a quality starter.
Underselling Barrie by a lot here I like Braun but Barrie has been one of the most productive d in the league for a long time no reason to move and even less reason to undervalue him in the process.

Columbus trade: Roslovic won't play in Edmonton. Putting that aside, BIG overpay for Edmonton. Korpisalo isn't an upgrade on Koskinen.
Chicago trade: Not sure how much Strome is worth to Chicago (might be worth more to them). Pretty fair though.
Seattle trade: Seattle trades seems pretty fair.
Dallas trade: Probably wouldn't take it as Dallas, I'm not too high on Barrie, he's a worse version of Klingberg.

not to mention im sure a original 6 rebuilding team can stomach 1.5m for a quarter of a season to move a player lmao
