small deals with tor and nash
I won't whine. I won't even complain. If our scouts tell us that Benning can do the job as a #2 or #3 RhD, then I would agree to this deal. Despite the fact that both of my local teams are in Edmonton's division, I don't know enough about him to advance an intelligent, informed opinion on his playability.

He is a driver on most lines and is a really good vet. Perfect for rebuilding teams. At least a 2nd and I would think a 4th is more than possible</div></div>
I hope you're right, I'll be shocked if the Jets aren't giving up a 2nd and a 4th to get rid of him. I like Perreault but he's just such a slow skater.

Eberle will likely get $4-5,000,000 somewhere, sure, but this scenario is all about the hope there desete.
For some folks who've already made their money, they make decisions based on other factors.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>The answer to your question likely involves trading someone away, but I think there's a much better question that should be asked:
Why does Kapanen sign this offer sheet, when he knows that Reinhart (I think that's a fair enough comparable for this exercise?) got 2 x $3.65, which, if we adjust the numbers to reflect the $83 mil projected cap, probably comes out more like $3.8-3.9-ish over two years?
So, what you're saying is that Kapanen should take a discount to go to Edmonton? That seems like a smart plan.</div></div>
Or maybe he just signs 4M x 2 years. Regardless, we'll pay him to max out the 2nd round compensation and he can go arbitration in 2 years. It's easy to adjust the years lol.

You got the right Idea. The Oilers would definitely be one of the lesser active teams on Trade Deadline tomorrow.
Good Things:
1) Burakovsky Trade would be a steal of a deal for us, Although I don't think the Caps would accept, Your on the right track. A second might seal the deal instead of a Third.
2) Petrovic Trade is great! Nothing to complain about here.
Bad things:
1) Carolina would never give that much for Chiasson. Your lucky to get a third for him.

The other deals/trading partners don’t offer the same value IMO.

Fix This Mess
I'm predicting in the future than no top 1st round draft pick will ever want to play for Edmonton ever again.
They will hold out and demand a trade.
Who in the hell would want to go to such a cluster F of an organization. I'd rather go play in the NCAA than join the Oilers.
They have single handedly ruined McDavids career to this point. By the time they turn this mess around he'll be 26 years old. And that's if they are lucky and don't keep screwing it up along the way.
The best thing I can say about them is that by the end of next year everyone of those losers in the forward group will be off the roster other than Lucic. So they can at least rebuild. But sadly they will still be wasting 6 million a year on Lucic unless they can dump him on seattle. But what would that cost? Why the hell would they ever want him.

OTT will absolutely retain on a Bobby contract. They don't care about the cap hit. It's the real dollars. Retaining 3 million in Ryan means only paying him 9 million total for the rest of his contract. Versus 11 million as a buyout, and 22 million if he stays. I'm no math major, but I think Eugene and Dorion take the 2nd rounder and 2 million dollars in savings.

What? RNH has 46 points this season and Rackell has 24. RNH is widely acknowledged to be the best defensive centre in the team.. RNH has a higher points per game percentage over his career. Plays 3 minutes more per game as compared to Rakell. And RNH can play all 3 forward positions.

Pretty interesting Edmonton/Winnipeg trade.. Laine would help the powerplay immensely. You lose C depth but acquire a natural scoring winger. Nurse for trouba is essentially a right for lefty swap. Depends if Trouba would sign here. I pull the trigger if I’m Edmonton
Chiasson, Pirri, Khaira would all need more $ I think though

Trades Minn Ari amp TO
Oilers are the one adding to Larsson for Kapanen hahahahahaha
I probably do the Spooner trade.
Thats a decent return for Draisaitl, but he is not getting moved, especially to divisional rival. I only say this because I'm a huge fan of Montour, and like Rakells game too. Draisaitl is our 2nd best player. His production would not be matched by any replacement they bring in. Better off looking into free agency for top 6 forwards (Silfverberg, Stone, Eberle, Duchene, HAyes, Skinner, Panarin, Nyquist, Zuccerello, Johansson etc.) and top 4 dmen (Myers, Karlsson, Edler, Stralmen).

McJ will ask for a tradeMatter of time
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>arousedcat</b></div><div>I don't think any package comes close to "fair value" for McDavid since he's a true generational player (I hate using that term since all the "analysts" throw it around every year at the draft, but McDavid actually fits the bill for the word). With that said, this is a pretty insane package for the Oilers. Dumba is signed to a steal of a contract and was having a Norris caliber year before tearing his pec. He was on pace for 30 goals and while I don't think he would have had that many at the end of the year he definitely would have been over 20. Not many defenseman can do that, and has 4 consecutive seasons over 10 goals as a 24 year old, which is extremely impressive for a defenseman. Greenway has been an absolute monster for us, he will be a terrifying power forward once he gets some experience under his belt. Zucker is definitely slumping this year, but he has a 33 goal season under his belt and has two other 20+ goal seasons which definitely has value. Two 1st round picks and a 2nd round pick is also a lot.
Bottom line I don't think Edmonton would take this trade (I'm not sure why everyone is posting these McDavid trades since he's the perfect player to rebuild around), but it's a very nice package for a generational talent.</div></div>
Yeah I’m not saying that minny isn’t offering quality Peices, they definitely are. But like I said, mcdavid has TOP 5 potential. Not to mention all the money he generates for the team like I listed above. Edmonton needs to hire a compentent GM and they’ll be fine. There’s no player I’d rather build around than mcdavid

Sorry mate it’s just not happening. From a financial standpoint, and a team stand point, it just won’t happen. The only way mcdavid gets moved is if he personally asks for a trade which he won’t cause he has too much loyalty

Ill say it before and I’ll say it again, not even close to fair value for mcdavid. Guys like him come around once a decade (maybe even less). The best piece you’re receiving is dumba who at best could be a #1D. Mcdavid could be a top 5 player OF ALL TIME. Not to mention he makes everyone around him better. Bet Alex Chaison doesn’t get 15 goals let alone the 35 He’s on pace for. AND mcdavid sells tickets, jerseys, attracts fans, generates an INSANE amount of money, promotions, more TV specials on out of market games, etc... and fans would revolt if they traded mcJesus
