cant believe this realistic roster works under the cap
Russel is still a good 3rd pairing Defenceman.
He’s one of the top shot blockers in the league.
He’s a Right hand shot which is rare.
He would be perfect for playoff hockey. Yes, he makes too much money, but I think he’s worth a 4th round pick.

Two Free Agents and Two Trade Ideas to Consider
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Yes but that was before this year. This season changed a lot for him don't you think? Career highs usually will do that. Earned a 1.2M deal back when he came off a 35 and 26 point season. He was trending downhill ever since thus probably had to take what was given to him. This year showed that he can be effective.
Yeah I feel some of the Minny guys may be sulking on what seems to be a bad season and a GM that is making bad moves left and right. Zucker may not be an all star but he's got value. Minny may have to either eat some cap or take a contract back but I'd think that is less a problem than getting as much value back as possible. Plus Minny fans seem to feel a retool/rebuild in necessary. If that's the case, all the more reason to keep EK. He's too young to give up on. IMO</div></div>
I agree with everything you say here. My only comment (and it's not a dissent) is that my figure for Chiasson was based not on my personal evaluation of what he should be paid but on the way he has been paid in the past.

EDM Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>WOW that is terrible trade value. Reinhart is a better player than RNH. Reinhart produces without the help of McDavid. Granted RNH is better defensively but he isn't worth more than Reinhart that's for sure. That 2019 1st is likely not even a top 10 pick, this year's draft isn't supposed to be very deep. Reinhart isn't on the trade block unless you wanna toss us Draisaitl. Risto to Edmonton would basically be for RNH. We don't want Poolbustparty, we have our own young wingers who aren't busts.</div></div>
RNH has spent most of the season as a centre (not playing with McDavid). So... as you said, Nuge is better defensively, he’s actually a centre, and has more points. I’m missing how Reinhart is better

STOP TRADING DROUIN
Im pretty sure he has less giveaways than domi and domi is doing just fine. I’ve noticed an improvement in his defensive game too. He’ll be fine. <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsFan33</b></div><div>It's not a question of just points. It's a question of effort and desire to be part of the team and system. He also doesn't understand how to play defense and constantly turns the puck over. Those things are not related to who is playing with but rather a conscious decision to not work hard. Great players will always give an effort whether or not they're producing, they find other ways to be involved. Julien rewards guys that follow the game plan, give an honest effort and that he can trust in important situation (defensive zone faceoff, protecting the lead late in games, etc). Right now, Drouin is not doing that and has not earned the trust of Julien for more ice time. I realize he's still 23 and has loads of talent but if you let him take shortcuts now, he'll never be a true star. This is the exact scenario that occurred in Ottawa in the early 2000's between Spezza and Jacques Martin. Jacques was trying to get Spezza to play a 200 foot game and be responsible at both ends of the ice, knowing that when he had an opportunity on offense, he's talent would take over. But here we are 15 yrs later and Spezza never learned to play both ends and has become a one dimensional player who's about the retire because no one is going to sign him in the summer.</div></div>

Could this work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sammy27awesome</b></div><div>parayko is unreal, probably a top 5 defensive d in the league. Is nuge a top 5 centre?
Nurse and Drouin, maybe but I think Drouin still has more potential. that trade probably needs more added to it, however I cant see Montreal really wanting nurse.
Brown is worth more than a third. He's a former 20 goal scorer and will probably play on mcdavids wing. maybe a second gets him.</div></div>
Lets not get carried away here. Parayko is good, he's not top 5 in the league. Bad trade tho cuz Nuge is 2nd lineC at best.
And Brown is hardly worth a 3rd. He will never score 20 again unless he gets top 6 minutes somewhere (which he doesn't deserve)

Both Schwartz and Fabbri are having down years especially Fabbri, a 2nd would still be an overpay, a 3rd would suffice. Klefbom has a great contract and is locked up longer, I don't think Edmonton needs to send a pick at all really.

I don’t think they should sign pirri for 2 million. He’s a pure goal scorer but is often a healthy scratch for Vegas and has been criticized for his defensive play. I also think the oilers will buyout lucic as he’s too slow to play in the NHL

I agree with your 1st 2 comments, but this Puljujarvi talk about being a bust drives me nuts. First of all, he is 20 freaking years old. MOST 1st round draft picks still haven't cracked an NHL line-up at his age.
He is not a bust, you can say that maybe 5 years post-draft, but not 3 years later. Some players just take a bit longer to figure things out.
Secondly he had a minor hip surgery, they scraped bits of bone off, there was nothing reconstructive done. He was on an exercise bike two days ago. This will probably make him even faster than he already is because no more pain. He might be a project, but his potential is worth it to wait a couple more years. I've seen him do some pretty amazing things on the ice. He is no Nail Yakupov.

2019-20
Trading Sekera who is a very good Dman, and has fully recovered from his injuries (and will only get better) is not a good idea. Trading for Gaborik, who probably has no knees left, does nothing for the Oilers.
RNH is a damn good player, the Oilers can’t afford to move him for one-dimensional types like Drouin.

Strange, I would say the same from Edmonton. If JP wasn’t included I would take it, if Van added a 4th or 5th rounder. Tanev is perpetually injured and hasn’t played a full season EVER, plus is more expensive.
Russell willingly blocks shots with his testicles, skates back to the bench, misses a shift or 2 after getting some smelling salts and then resumes shot blocking with every body part again. Coaches and teammates love these guys.</div></div>
