I don’t think they should sign pirri for 2 million. He’s a pure goal scorer but is often a healthy scratch for Vegas and has been criticized for his defensive play. I also think the oilers will buyout lucic as he’s too slow to play in the NHL

Russell is not a fit with Habs blueline. To small and he won't last long after a couple mental lapses in Montréal.

Why would Toronto accept that? Please explain. Brown is a good player who is appropriately paid. They are likely to trade him simply as they are in a cap crunch and when you are as deep as the Leafs are he ends up on the fourth line and that's expensive. Why would they trade him for a bad defenseman?

Kris Russel is a bad defenseman on a ****ty contract. Why would anyone pay you for it?

I may be mistaken on Eakin.

Toronto is more likely to trade Brown for a draft pick (3rd or 4th) but I can see why they would take a chance on a RHD like benning. Oilers would probably have to retain some money though. Russell is on a slightly overpaid, sure, but I think teams will still find him useful. Doesn’t have to be Montreal. As for Eakin, the knights are going to be in cap hell next season and have to shed some cap somehow.

The Leafs are in a weird position with defenseman. While they have a significant need for high end defenseman they actually have a bunch of #5-8 defenseman or prospects ready to push for the NHL. Based on their Capp situation I don't think they have any interest in a defenseman from 1-3 million dollars on a fair deal (unless zaitsev is moved). I think they either want a bargain (under 1 mil) or an impact defenseman.
