Last I checked Gostisbehere only returned a 3rd and same with Gustafsson after his 60 point season. He probably won't be on your 1st PP unit next season and will have at most 30 points. I don't blame Habs fans for trying to sell high on him but anyone with any sort of understanding of hockey knows he is a liability at 5v5</div></div>

Montreal Canadiens signed Lane Hutson (3 Years / $1,333,333 AAV)
Hutson sera Hutson. Nous verrons ce que cela signifiera. Les comparaisons et les attentes sont irrationnelles.

4 Centers Suzuki - Dach - Newhook - Dvorak

Anderson - Newhook- Holmström until 2027
If this line could score a total 55+ goals per year that would be a win in my book.
RHP and Ylonen seem to be fringe NHL players with 4th line ceilings.
I loved RHPs entrance into the league. Awesome player. Maybe he can find his mojo back. Ylonen has sick mitts, but I think he needs a chance else where.
Hölmstrom was drafted 7 picks after Newhook. I believe his ceiling could be middle-6. He plays north-south and can become a good PK specialist in my eyes.
SLAFSQUATCH - Who would you go for instead of Mangiapane instead with the package I proposed? (I agree Mangiapane is a bit underwhelming, but if he can get back to the 2021-2022 season form. Then I think this is a steal. No guarantees of course 😆.</div></div>
I think a smart option would be Anthony Duclair. Would be cheaper. And, imo, has an x-factor, whearas Mangiapane is kinda vanilla. Him being a Montrealer is a bonus. He would be my target, but there are others to more or lesser degrees that wouldn't cost the assets of a trade.

I do agree that having 2 dman could be a good solution. Burrows would have to change his entire PP structure (which I’m completely fine with lol) and a forward still needs to come out.
Take out Newhook, move Slaf to bumper position? Maybe… 🤔</div></div>
Hughes is def going to add another top 6 option at the draft. So they'll def have a more complete top 6 with a more efficient PP. Up to Roy, Newhook, RHP to battle and fill it out. Regardless. Imo Hutson shouldn't see NHL time at all next year. But, we'll see!

I'm saying Matheson is, and has always been, a placeholder for PP1. With or without Hutson around. Hutson is just the first player who can realistically contest Matheson's claim to PP1. So I say give 20-year-old Hutson the opportunity to showcase his talents with MTLs best players. and Let 30-year-old Matheson be the one to "fix" PP2, where he is much better suited for.
Again, grand schemes of things. PP1 should be:
Caufield - Dach - Salfkovsky
Suzuki - Hutson
PP2 should have something like:
Roy - Newhook - (someone)
Matheson - Xhekaj/Mailloux/Reinbacher</div></div>
Yes. Lets move a 60 pt top scoring dman in the league off the 1st pp for a kid that has never played an NHL game. True Hab fan logic.

The difference for Hanifin each year making $7.35M in Vegas vs. Calgary is $640k take home:
Vegas (taxed at 38.9% from https://www.talent.com/tax-calculator?salary=7350000&from=year&region=Nevada): $7.35M -> $4.49M take home
Calgary (taxed at 47.6% from https://ca.talent.com/tax-calculator?salary=7350000&from=year&region=Alberta): $7.35M -> $3.85M take home
If Hanafin stays all 8 years in Vegas, the total take home difference between signing in Vegas vs. Calgary is $5.12M. This would mean Hanafin would have to play over 9 years in Calgary to take home the same earnings as he does in 8 years in Vegas.</div></div>
