3.58 M is the average cap hit if you have 23 players anything over you need to find a player under that to cover, if you need further explanation look at the leafs cap situation (3 players in top 7 paid in NHL).

The trade was obviously terrible from the start, but I can't remember ever seeing a player so openly miserable about getting a chance to mentor a budding star like Tim Stützle. Truly terrible vibes, and I hope he gets absolutely no success in the little bit of career he has left. I'm a Derek Stepan hater til I die</div></div>

19 of 27 goals on the powerplay. If a team didnt allow rookies on the powerplay would they get paid the same?
Also, in the Stutzle comparison you are comparing a Center to a Winger. The Center will win everytime. Also look at who Kyrou was playing with last year vs who Stutzle was playing with, not all lines are equal.

I know Im an Idiot, We all are. Im just not on this occasion and I would bet the Farm on it. Teams do 1 year offer sheets and work out a deal afterwards like what was done with KK. This will be the new norm since offer sheets were traditionally used on what are considered illegal contracts now, ie. Weber.

A simple message to the idiots that voted no, an offer sheet at this price costs a team a 1 First Round Pick, 1 Second Round Pick and a 1 Third Round Pick. Every Team in the League would LOVE to grab a player like Jimmy at this price. After the Bedard Lottery Offer Sheets would have been Plenty!

Explain that pattern to me</div></div>
The pattern I see is teams are trying to start locking up talent long term early earlier, less bridges.
Year signed and position would be important columns to add to this. I would prefer a 1-5 rating on the deal (but thats a capfriendly issue) and also users should need to select their favourite team to see if there is a Leafs factor in some deals when they start looking at their overpays that have caused them to lose players and become less competitive year after year.
Another add could be the contracts being rated each year, people are rating this contact, but it only comes into play next year. The contract is going to look like the 6.5 mill Karlsson Contract in time.

Im curious how many games the 'No's' have watched Stutzle play, he is absolutely dynamic and will for the first time in his career be playing a full season at his primary position center and have actual top tier linemates with Debrincat and Giroux. He will have an exceptional year this year, get ready for 80+ points while growing tremendously in the faceoff circle learning from G. I am PUMPED. Lock up Zub for at least 5 years and this if the Best Offseason in Sens History!

Thread:
Ottawa Senators signed Mathieu Joseph (4 Years / $2,950,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>budgeteam</b></div><div>-Senators trade Connor Brown 4M per to WSH for 2024 2nd Round Pick
-Senators extend Mathieu Joseph. He will make 2.5M in 2022-23.
-Joseph will play the same role as Brown for 1.5M less in 2022-23.
-That role is top matchup/defensive winger, and top unit PK time. Occasional fill in on top 2 lines. Expect 30 points and 18 minutes a night with tough d-zone deployment.
That's basically what this is about. The Senators are spending in the mid 70 millions in real cash.
The Senators are at about 72 million in real money spent with a 19 player roster. If the Senators find their mythical top 4D, this trade points to Formenton being part of the package that gets him. Formenton will get something similar to Kakko, 2 years at 2.XX million. Which means he will make around 1.5-2.0 million in year 1. Brannstrom will either sign his qualifying offer, or get 2 years at around 1.5 million. Either way, he ends up making about 1 million next year since a 2 year deal would be backloaded. Senators also need to give up assets to dump Zaitsev and his 2M base salary.
I don't remember the exact number their budget was confirmed at, it might have been 74 million. Chychrun makes 4 million this season, Weegar makes 4.75 million, Klingberg is probably asking for something in the 4 million range. You do the math. Unless the Senators budget is higher than previously reported, Formenton+Zaitsev will go out in either a trade or a series of trades to add the top 4D. Or, they will keep the roster as is right now with the exception of Formenton and Brannstrom signed to bridge deals or their qualifying offers.
For example, if they sign Klingberg, it wouldn't surprise mt to see Formenton as the sweetener for a team to take Zaitsev. If they trade for Chychrun, Formenton+Zaitsev will both be in the deal, along with the assets for Chychrun. Same deal with Weegar or whoever else. That's my theory....</div></div>
No need to use Formenton as a sweetener. It was floated that Chicago would take Zeitsef and a 2nd round pick which is what Brown was traded for (https://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Kevin-Francis/UPDATED-5pm-EST---Klingberg-rumours-to-Ottawa/294/118112). Signing the King Klingberg with the space will make for a very fun team to watch hopefully into the warm months and through another southern ontario opponent giving them another first round exit :).
