<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Club_de_Hockey_le_Canadien</b></div><div>Don't resign McNiven he'll never play a game. Oilers won't accept. Don't give up Mete and Byron (the two most underrated players on the team) for Zach Smith and Maata. Galchenyuk never worked the first time, we don't want him back. Voynov shouldn't even be an option, I shouldn't need to explain that.</div></div>

Mcniven is a very capable backup at the AHL level with even starter potential. He hasn't been given a fair shot IMO because of the logjam we have due to Price contract and the signing of inefficient backups. Add to that the potential Lindgren once displayed and now Primeau and the other new guy coming in.... someone has got to go and I believe that will be Lindgren. Mcniven is young enough that I can even see him backing up Primeau in the future.
Regarding Mete and Byron.
The Habs greatly screwed up with Metes entry and development out of desperation and while I don't want to move him the time is now while he's young, somewhat efficient and has some value. Unless we move guys like Kulak, Chiarot, Folin, Alzner and with new guys coming in now or very shortly (ie, Romanov, Norlinder, Struble, Harris). The left side of defence is loaded for years to come and there just isn't any space for him. Now's the time to cut ties.
Byron is a spark plug and has a reasonable contract for a multiple 20 goal scorer. He's getting older and the style he plays makes him more injury prone. Much like Mete he still brings value to this team ATM with his clutch goals and PK ability but like Mete we have an abundance of bottom 6 wingers. Time to move him is also now while his value is at the highest it will ever be.
