Making dead cap for real cap space
IMHO, Respectfully, other sens fans saying no. Yall are insane.
OTT needs a RHD, and OTT needs a RWinger. This accomplishes both.
Yeah, EK isnt the same, but he sure as **** is worth <6MM.
Labanc would be off the books soon, or moveable for one of the abundant picks that we have if he doesnt work out.
This would solve the vet problem, he loves the city, OTT would still get to draft and develop 7OA (wouldnt have to trade it to fill holes). I see this as a win.

The only logical off-season
Arizona owes us one after the Stepan debacle. No way this costs more than it did to take on that mess.

2022 Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SquidNasty</b></div><div>Really wish people would understand that Ottawa isn't trading Brown. I see him in almost every Sens trade from fans of other teams and it boggles my mind. If Ottawa misses the playoffs next year it would be considered pretty disappointing. They want him around next year and probably try to extend him before he hits FA. The facts you've pointed out are things you wouldn't get from just pulling up his hockey DB but are the reasons why he's the type of player coaches dream about. The only way Ottawa moves him is if next year turns into a dumpster fire and they're selling at the deadline again.</div></div>
Honestly, hockey fans are most likely the less knowledgeable among popular sports out there. The game is very complex and has a lot of variables/moving parts. People don't have the time to invest like hockey freaks do (like me). That's why most fans resort to hockeydb to form their opinions. Points and draft position over anything.
I want more Connor Browns, not less.

He's our best prospect, its his first year in the AHL. Hes got way more potential than him

2022 Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DougieGilmour</b></div><div>People who have never played the game themselves and only like analytics think Brown is overrated.</div></div>
Yeah of course, you are limited in your game's understanding if you haven't played the game... but I know some people who never really played but have a very good understanding, let's call that "hockey IQ"
That being said, I really don't see what's wrong with Connor Brown analytics?
Is it because he has a 47 CF%? lol of course, he is matched up against top forwards and 2/3 of the time deployed in the defensive zone.
Problem people have is either they have a poor understanding of the game or lack of knowledge, or a combination of both
I will copy/paste some facts that I have shared for months (see below). This gives a much better idea of what Connor Brown brings
<em>A player like Connor Brown is much harder to replace than a 2nd line winger. Look at these stats (2019-20 + 2020-21) :
- Among Brown's 19:17 TOI/GP in Ottawa, 2:45 were on the PK and only 1:32 on the PP. His overall dZS% has been 62.6% which is extremely high. Simply put, he is mostly used as a shutdown forward or on a matchup line.
- Despite this defensive usage, he has been 61st for Even Strenght Points among NHL players since 2019-20 (not including 2021-22 yet). Look at the names around him on that list, they aren't all as good overall :
http://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?reportType=season&seasonFrom=20192020&seasonTo=20202021&gameType=2&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=evPoints&page=1&pageSize=50
Facts summary :
- He has scored at a 24 goals/50 pts pace in Ottawa (127 GP)
- He was 2nd in takeaways last season (behind Mark Stone of course)
- He received Selke votes (17th)
- Total beast on the PK : often gets more scoring chances than the opposition
- used heavily in a defensive deployment (34.0 oZS% vs 66.0 dZS%) but still provides good offense
His speed, non-stop motor and flawless work ethic is a beautiful thing to watch. With only a 3.6 AAV for 2 more seasons... way too valuable for Ottawa and they love him a lot. Any team who has Brown should use him in a similar way that Ottawa has been</em>
I haven't updated with 2021-22 stats but Brown has 19 pts in 26 games so an even better pace than usual so far

Playoffs roster
If the 3 is for Sanford and the 5th is for Holden, there needs to be something else going to Ottawa for taking Ritchie on.
