Nah Detroit will most likely trade the pick in a debrincat deal or draft Barlow.

Man you said it so confidently too - cap is absolutley not going up $1m a year after next.
Also "moving down a round" is a very dumb argument. Moving from 1st overall to 32nd is a lot different from moving from a 6th to a 7th.
In this case moving from a late first to an early third is a pretty large drop off in value.</div></div>
ok so lets say it does end up going up 6 million or something around that range. Matthews is asking for 15 million at least.
Enjoy paying an overatted player who hasnt won any team awards 15+ million

It is one year at 4.5 a lot of taking teams that needed to be at the floor like the Coyotes that will happily take on his contract for a mid pick. Cal took a haul to dump because it was more years and more money. The Leafs paid less then this to dump multiple years of Mrazek .</div></div>
leafs move back 40 spots which is basically 1 round. It's not just a first

Best Prospect Pool In the League
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>Let me think about that Toronto deal. Um, no
2 mill buyout is fine not year as cap goes up and Matthews will be fine to sign. Especially with Knies/Minten/2023 pick/Voit coming up to play for Toronto. There's a reason why they brought Doan in; for Matthews and bc he's their new GM once Treliving retires/gets fired/leaves for another job</div></div>
There's a chance that the cap doesn't go up. Also contenders have to sacrifice futures to win. It's the price of winning. Especially since the leafs need to make big moves and their win window is closing.
Also you really think that just because Doan played in Arizona and Matthews is from Arizona means that he's gonna stay in Toronto?? In the end I don't think he really cares about that and would take money over that any day

understandable. The thing is is that your pool is deep in all positions, so no matter what you get it won't be that beneficial unless its a future pick, but I don't think a pick will be traded for Drury

Leafs have all $ in world to pay out Muzzin's contract on LTIR
A Murray buyout costs almost nothing this year, and only $2m next year when cap is going up $3-$6M. No problem there.
They probably end up dumping Murray but it wont be for a first.</div></div>
28th pick to 67 is only moving down one round basically.
Also no way in hell is the cap going up 3-6 million. That was never reported and if it was to go up it would be 1 million each year. Even at that there are reports that the cap may actually not go up at all this year.
So you really wont to take on a 2 million dollar cap hit instead of moving back a round?

Not good enough for a wild card spot. Bertuzzi wont sign in Columbus especially at that amount since he wants 7 mil
Goaltending is still bad
No elite center (not yet) they’re all developing
Adding provorov and severson isn’t enough to make a bottom 3 team jump 14 spots in the standings

would be pretty solid, but I think Seth Jones gets way to much hate. He may not live up to the contract, but I think he'll be similar to how Jeff Skinner was and have a big bounceback when he plays with more youth. Not that I think Seth Jones is a healthy scratch but you get what I mean.
Also, Boqvist isn't a top pairing d man, sillinger is in a big sophmore slump and is rushed, and Jake Bean is whatever. Jiricek kinda hurts though

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>Thats actually not true Murray is eligible to stick to LTIR even after what we saw. Mike Smith played in the playoffs then in the summer stories came out he was gonna go to LTIR what happened LTIR citing this injury and that injury. Murray was just sitting on the bench does that mean he was ready to come back no. Lets be honest if he was ready they would have put him in game 5. Concussion symptoms can spring up at any point and the league knows it.
So Murray can go to LTIR as his injury and concussion history would make it to where he can do it. And if he retires citing head injuries RIP OTT as they take the cap punishment</div></div>
I don’t think you’re paying attention. Management does not get to decide whether he retires or goes on ltir. The doctors get the final say and so does Matt Murray.

Also saying that Murray won’t end up on LTIR is ridiculous. People have said players won’t end up on it and then they do. Teams find a way. The Leafs have a history of finding a way. They’re not trading a 1st for temporary cap relief. Makes 0 sense.</div></div>
You know you can’t just place a player on LTIR?
If Murray was 35 then sure I bet you could convince him, but he’s 29 and has a lot of years left. If he’s healthy then he’ll play.

Is Mitchell even worth it for the Pens to trade down in the draft.</div></div>
I think it’s more of a statement for the new gm rather than that. Mitchell isn’t bad but the hawks have a super deep d prospect pool and there’s no space for him. He could breakout in Pittsburgh. I think it’s worth it.

Jt Miller is a cancer to your team. Petterson is gonna demand a crazy pay raise. Boeser and Garland are both over paid and will get traded. Demko is overrated. I guess I'm wrong, you have a terrible future and present and will be stuck in medicracy.

Why don’t the Canucks trade Demko and Pettersson as well then. Frees up a ton of cap space!</div></div>
You’re completely wrong. You’re gonna miss the playoffs once again. Your d core needs to be retooled and it starts with Myers. Dump him then sign severson in FA. But I don’t think you understand that. Your winning window is closing and I think it’s hilarious how insane you canucks fans are.

Canucks fans are delusional if you don’t take that trade. You’re giving freeing up 11 million dollars in cap space to move back 8 spots. Your defense is terrible and so is your cap space. If you wanna stay mediocre for another decade than decline the trade.
