Weegar
Agree with your assessment of Weegar, but I don’t see CGY making this deal when they can trade Hanifin (who isn’t extended) to a new team and still pull a haul of assets. It’s also exceedingly rare (has it happened before?) for a guy who is in year 1 of a long-term deal to get traded.
Treliving is well aware of Weeger, Hanifin, and Tanev. So we’ll see what ends up shaking out. I’d put the probability of Leafs adding Weegar at 0-1% range.

No doubt. Will be interesting to see how hot DAL is playing heading into playoffs. Not a team anyone is going to be keen to face.
How would the CGY Hanifin trade look if CGY wanted Stankoven coming back in the package?

I think Lindholm would extend on reasonable terms in CAR.

COL and BOS trades are well below market for those players.
The DAL deal is interesting to CGY. Not sure if Conroy would target a player like Lindell, but I like him. If I’m Lindell though, I ain’t waiving that NMC to leave DAL when they are in contender mode. And keep in mind the insiders are suggesting Hanifin trade is more likely to be a sign and trade, so it won’t be a pure rental price.

I think Monahan at that AAV is a great fit for BOS to add some flexibility with a veteran center who can score 20+ goals. Depends on what BOS does with their bigger needs during the season and offseason to determine cap space for someone like Monahan.

Playoff roster
Cmon now.
Replace Frederic with Poitras and I think it’s closer, but still short what CGY can get if they separate those two players and trade them individually. The insiders are now suggesting that Hanifin will be a sign and trade, so the acquiring team isn’t getting a pure rental.
The BOS package presented here is not enough for Hanifin extended alone, let alone a retained Lindholm. And as mentioned above, the Flames are looking for younger players/assets. So Gryz and Fred don’t fit the bill.

Coronato should get a healthy look at 1RW with Huberdeau and Lindholm. Coro has the exact shot/finish that line needs and his ability to read the game and be in offensive shooting position impresses me more every time I see him play.
He might need a year in the middle 6 to adjust fully to the NHL, but I want to see it this year, and I expect he’ll be that top 1RW next year and beyond. Already looks like a better option that Sharan.

Agreed this isn’t Pinto’s trade value. It’s slightly more than what RFA compensation would be for a $2M AAV contract. Another commenter reminded me that Pinto isn’t eligible for an offer sheet, hence the trade here that’s in line with offer sheet comp.
OTT needs to deal with the cap situation and get Pinto signed. Excited to see their team in action this year.

Hopefully all of them except Hanifin and Backlund.
In terms of AAV, you’re probably light on Zadorov and Tanev. Would be great for CGY if Kylington comes back better than before and willing to sign a short $2.5M deal. Hard to say though — if he plays well, as a UFA he will have plenty of interest.

This team would guarantee a non-playoff finish in regular season.
Conroy needs to decide whether we rebuild (great time to do it right now) or whether we continue to do the “barely make playoffs” retool. I cringe every time I hear players say things like, “look at FLA this year. They barely snuck in and went on a run. Parity, parity, parity.”
Time to rebuild this club properly and come out the other side in 3 years after McDavid and Draisaitl have left EDM for greener pastures.

PHI idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Directionally that makes no sense at all for Philly. They are clearly tanking for a top 5 pick.
This is also a bad deal for Calgary. Konecny is barely better offensively than Mangiapane and way worse defensively, Dube and Hanifin are worth way more than Laughton</div></div>
What’s to stop PHI from retaining a few bucks and flipping 1-2 of these players? They could trade Dube for a few decent picks, for example.
I think Konecny is a massive upgrade over Mangiapane in more than one way. And Laughton looks like a perfect linemate for Kadri. Those two could create a lot of space on the ice.

Meier isn’t worth a 1st line center and a top pairing dman, even with the expiring contracts. NJ would need to add a healthy amount to get CGY interested. Otherwise Conroy can get a great haul of assets for the two players in individual trades.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bast</b></div><div>In general I would agree with you, but here term(1 year until UFA) and injury history play a part. Tanev had a hard time staying healthy last season, he missed time, and was playing through one thing or another for most of it. He missed quite a few practices as a result.
At this point Tanev is a player I would prefer the Flames to re-sign for a few more seasons.</div></div>
Take a look at previous deadline prices for dmen in the final year of contract. Renting a top 4 shutdown dman on an expiring contract is very expensive. More than two 2nd rounders expensive.

CGY could get a healthy amount more in value by trading Tanev at the deadline. Dmen of his calibre/impact pretty handily fetch a 1st ++. Two second rounders aren’t going to move the needle.

CGY isn’t making that TOR trade. Probably more likely to be a 1:1 with Hanifin and Nylander, especially given the AAV savings that TOR gets in 2023-24 and beyond when extensions are signed for both guys.
I don’t hate the CLB trade, but Conroy and scouts would need to confirm Sillinger is poised to be a 3C or better at this age. And I don’t think CGY is adding more than a 4th round pick in this swap (2nd is too much for a guy of Lindholm’s calibre)
