Wtf. Way way too much to give up! Mantha in terms of value is barely above Domi to begin with.

I dont mind when ppl want to say this kind of offer doesn't interest Detroit because they dont think it meets their needs. Just stop acting like I'm trying to trade for pastrnak. Also beware the regression to the mean and enjoy next season 🙂 also my next offer for mantha will be lower just for fun</div></div>
Exactly this. Just say Domi doesn't fit Detroits needs. To suggest that they are not even close is ridiculous, the numbers speak for themselves.
One year ago if Detroit fans were to suggest Mantha for Domi straight up habs fans would be like "we aren't trading our #1C who just put up 72 pts for an injury prone player."
So one year later its the opposite?
The truth is these are similarly productive (again look at the numbers) players with totally different skill sets.
Mantha is a 6'5" powerforward/sniper wing who has had injury issues.
Domi is a feisty 5'10" skilled speedy playmaking center.
Totally different skill sets, but very similar value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TommyBPickles</b></div><div>Maybe I could be convinced into changing the 2nd into a 1st. But as much as I think mantha would fit our needs he isn't worth giving away Suzuki or KK. Also the only way something like this happens is if mantha has no interest in signing long term in Detroit. Which I think is likely as he would be agreeing to spend his prime years at the bottom of the league. He may say all the right things in public but I dont think that many guys want to waste their best years.</div></div>
Hard to say the motivations of a player. We have a lot of cap so we can pay him and maybe he likes to golf. If he wanted to win though wouldn’t he want to go to a true contender? We also have 2 RFA years on him so maybe he likes the direction of our team with some youngsters getting spots (Zadina, Seider, Rasmussen, Veleno, 2020 4OA) and/or some FA acquisitions or trades. If he doesn’t I’d have no problem flipping him in the last year of that deal and dealing with it then when he’s established what kind of player he is. Suzuki or KK is the only thing on that roster outside Romanov that fills an area of need while being in our window.

Isles fans would you move pulock
Back to back trades like the Shaw+Eller trade at the draft table so no one knows what's about to happen and then;
Domi to Buffalo for 8th overall,
Pulock to Montreal for 9th overall and some,
Then Montreal drafts Domi's replacement there.
That'd be funny as hell.

At the beginning of the season it was speculated that it would take 2 x 2nd round picks and MTL's offer is above that.
McCarron is a first rounrder and then the 2nd round pick in 2020. If Holland wants more then they can keep him. IMO

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TommyBPickles</b></div><div>I should add that if they dont bring someone new in he should not be sent down. But I do see him as a current weakness of the lineup which is fine for now but without some pretty big steps I dont think you could keep him in the lineup for playoffs. It is a long season though so hopeful he continues to improve.</div></div>
If they want to acquired someone i think they should target a left handed partner for him because that third pairing have been a mess in Montreal with folin, reilly, kulak and fleury. I mean with the rotation he do inthibk that no one have olay more then 2 game together. He brings in fleury and reilly is in the line up for 2 gane nonhe bring back kulak and 2 games after its folin and it goes like this. Its hard for the olayers to get chemistry and for defenseman its more important. You must trust your partners. But that my opinion maybe im wrong but i wouldn’t do it like this

#1 pick & fav trade proposals I've seen (with my tinkering)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TommyBPickles</b></div><div>I still think you are over paying for what you are actually getting, mainly because RNH is a 2C on any good team, so do you really want to give up Chucky a 1st and a 2nd for a 2C? That being said if you know you have Tavares then overpaying is not as big of a deal. I think if you ignore this year where RNH is having a great year and Chucky is having a down year( along with all other habs) they should be pretty close to a one for one. Definitely not a 1st and 2nd apart IMO.
I personally would be going for a deal that only sends either Patches or Chucky to a team for guys like R. Thomas, Kyrou, Vilardi, Clague. and picks. Although making that kind of deal probably hurts your chances of landing Tavares which is already really low.</div></div>
I think where we disagree is the value of a 2nd line center. If they were alot more available, we'd have one by now (assuming Chucky isn't a center). I think getting a guy like RNH as a 2C (assuming we can get Tavares) puts us in a win-now mode (keeping in mind Price/Weber). I'd love to make a 1-1 deal, but I don't think Chucky is enough to get a former 1st overall pick, who is only 24, and good for 50ish pts/yr.
I'd go as far as saying that if we were to land RNH and JT, do we really even need Danault? RNH & JT would get close to 20min/g of ice time. That would leave 20 min/g to divide between the 3rd & 4th line centers. No need to pay Danault 2-3M$ to play 10-12 min/g.

Team of Westeros (Game Of Thrones)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SuprDave45</b></div><div>First line, gotta move Tyrion to center but an awesome first line, some great young firepower on the wings!
Second line, deadly...but dirty!
Third line, would move Brandon to center, 3 eyes has to give him great vision and play making potential.
Fourth line, smart and crafty, but soft! Sir Davos is doing all the heavy lifting on this line.
I really have to question your misuse of Lady Brienne...totally top pair shut down D!!! Did you see her fight a couple of seasons ago? Tough as nails! Gotta swap her and Theon, he is a serious liability! And Yara....brave, but in the big spot she kinda dropped the ball.
Second pair is super solid, scary even, but a little slow...I saw Gregor get exposed...once! Sandor is a tough SOB, he plays through injuries!
Grey Worm, super smooth, don't underestimate his size, sleeper on the third pair, maybe pair up with Brienne for a real lethal top pair!
Based on your format, Sir Bronn more of a dman no?
Awesome team!</div></div>
On a side note, it's a real shame Khal Drogo was retired early due to injury, almost like the guy was cursed...he was the total package!

Ghost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TommyBPickles</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ricochetii</b></div><div>I'm of the belief that Beaulieu will get closer to $4M, so I don't see Philly getting any significant savings there.</div></div>
I think everything you else you said is pretty fair, but there is not a chance in hell Beaulieu should get anywhere near 4 mil. Beaulieu has figured out his offensive game in the NHL which is great but the rest of his game has a ways to go before he is a legit top 4 guy. I think Sergachev will definitely be better than Ghost but we still need some one to play with Weber until he is ready and Markov has been good but he is super old. I am curious as to how you see Beaulieu as a different style of player?</div></div>
Beaulieu is on his 3rd contract. Generally the time the power shifts to the player in negotiations. He's arbitration eligible, coming off a bargain bridge deal, and has shown he can produce in the NHL, while averaging over 19:00 TOI this season. His numbers are better than the eye test, and the numbers are all an arbitrator looks at. My opinion (and I could be wrong of course), is that he will ask for around $4M with term, and MB will want another bridge deal. I can't see him taking another bridge deal. So my belief is that it will result in arbitration or an offer sheet.
An offer sheet would be up in the $3.75M range and only require a 2nd round pick as compensation. I can't see MB trading Beaulieu for a 2nd round pick at this point, so he would match the offer.
In short, <em>I believe (Beaulieve? :p)</em> that he will either be signed long term for just under $4M (whether MB makes the decision or via offer sheet), or a 1 year arbitration award in the same vicinity.
