Epic WPG rebuild
This is by far my favourite type of ACGM. One with an absolutely insane trade where I think both fan bases have to at least think about it.
Well done. 10/10

Leafs next step
As someone who is around 5'7 and was never a good hockey player, I think the comparison is accurate.
And I think your reasoning makes sense. Honestly, I would be happy with them trying anything to kick start this team.
Also, I think Murphy would be a good fit, but the price is undoubtedly a 1st and I don't know if the Leafs do it (even though I think they should). As for Mayfield, he's a cheap upgrade over Holl, but he's not a massive upgrade and his "cheapness" expires at the end of the year, so I worry it would have to be an unreasonable overpay, which I hope they don't do (Foligno trade still haunts me - and I like Foligno).

I kind of like the move for Ottawa, especially if they make the playoffs. I don't think the value is right, but I don't think it's horrible.
I think the problem is that Zaitsev has negative 1st round pick value. He has a horrible contract (and I cannot remember who gave it to him for some reason...) for what he can produce.
The trade is probably far closer in value by just removing him. But even then, the Hawks can afford to retain so I think they might do a bit better sending him somewhere else with retention.

Fair. But their core is still very young, expectations are not sky high yet (but they will be), I'm not a Sens fan, but I look at what they're building and think a little patience could be huge.
I really think JBD is going to be a top 4 NHL defenseman soon. And a top 4 of Chabot, Sanderson, Zub, and JBD, looks pretty good to me. Plus with all the talk of how deep the 2023 draft is, no team should be trading a 1st for a rental.
Maybe it's just me, but I think the short term gain wouldn't be worth it in this case.

Leafs and Flames call each other to gossip about your bad offers behind your back.
I don't know enough about Ottawa to know for sure, but I suspect they decline as well. They're still rebuilding and that is not a "rebuilding move"

trades rebuild around Petey and Hughes
I am not saying whether or not the Leafs should do this, but these are the Leafs 3 best prospects, a 1st round pick, and a goalie our GM likes for some reason. So I don't think the Leafs do this, even if you think they should.

Leafs Shed Some Dead Wood
I disagree that these players are dead weight. Overpaid, maybe. Misused, sure. But they are all competent NHL players and if not for the Salary Cap I would not see any use to trading them.
But even beyond the cap, I will never understand this fan bases obsession with trading these three players. Especially Holl who is really not a top 4 defenseman. But he is a perfect 6 or 7 guy and if the Leafs trade him a player exactly like him is who they will be looking for at the deadline.
But enough of me on my soapbox. Let's say for a moment that I agree with you, they are dead weight or wood or whatever. Why would any team give up assets for that? Why would a tanking team especially trade futures (what they are trying to collect, for expiring UFAs? The only reason would be if the Leafs were selling low because of cap constraints and the team could flip them for better futures. But you know what that would mean? That they're not dead wood.
Otherwise, we're trading assets to shed the contracts.

Nexts years team
Other than Liljgren were not offering Calgary anything of value here. And even if you want to argue that Liljgren has the potential to one day be better than Tanev (the potential is definitely there) there is no guarantee it happens and even if it did, how does that help Calgary now?
If the Leafs want Tanev they would have to overpay and I have to think Robertson and a first are a part of that overpay (with possible Liljgren plus) because Tanev is an important part of that team.

I am genuinely unsure, but I think you can do better with Mayfield.
Leafa decline. They have zero need for a bottom 6 forward.
I am not a Flames fan and Calgary could use a top 9 forward, but I suspect Bailey is not who they would be interested in even with retention.

Mainly for cap reasons. Defence was a little more difficult especially with trying to be "realistic". I figured they're at least physical?

WAY too early and wrong predictions
This is not roast you worthy. But a few notes:
Gogolev is not worth anything except another minor leaguer. Given all of the contracts I think the Leafs are better off giving him away for FC.
I agree with everything about Simmonds and if there is mutual interest with him a Philly, great.
I don't think the Leafs should trade Holl. He is a little overpaid for a 6th or 7th defenseman but he is a very important and useful part of this team. I think they keep him and let him walk as a FA.
Engvall is a tough one. Not playing up to what he is capable of, but is a useful depth piece. But I would rather get nothing than retain.
Finally, I know Chychrun to Toronto is popular right now, but I do not think it's a good idea and I really hope the Leafs don't do it unless the ask drops below market value.

Hey OP, welcome to Capfriendly. I hope we didn't turn you off of this site, it's really a very fun place to be. You have assholes like me going around but you learn to ignore us and have fun with the good ones like a certain OldNYIfan.
But next time you make a Leafs ACGM, you have to trade either Kerfoot, Engvall or Holl.
It's traditional.

Jake Ottinger. I'm not kidding either. Leafs don't have the cap space to make any of your pieces work. They're in win-now mode, so your picks and prospects don't move the needle. So take Murray, give us Ottinger, and then we talk.
I know, never going to happen, and you would be crazy to consider it because Nick Robertson is clearly not worth a starting goalie, but you have nothing else that would interest the Leafs/that the Leafs would actually be able to use.

Do you want them - set the price
Easy no for the Leafs. When healthy, Muzzin is better than OEL and while neither is worth their contract (even with retention), Muzzin has 2 years to OEL's 5.
And when not healthy, he provides more wiggle room on LTIR than Ferland.
Wouldn't do it for free, let alone sending a 1st.
