Would like to see Robertson-Kerfoot-Nylander as a line Kerf/Willy have chemistry and think that would be one of the best third lines in hockey. JT needs two guys that play the cycle and chase down pucks and feel Järnkrok/Engvall would be a good fit.

I agree with you, no reason for the Leafs to pay a team to take Holl when he is the type of player we will look to acquire at the TDL. He is fine as a PK and bottom 6 dman. I believe that he and Gio will be great together this season.
Hope Lily can take that next step and play with Mo and have Brodie/Muzz as a shutdown

Lily is going to miss training camp and they didn't say what was wrong with him so now fans believe that he will start the season on LTIR and from what's been reported Engvall will miss the first month

Leafs
Would the Leafs have taken 1st/Prospect and two ufa cap dumps(6.5cap 2.75mil in real cash) for MO at 24yrs old signed for 3 more yrs at 4.6mil? i get that the money own to Kerfoot would be a help for Ari but they will get maybe a late 2nd for kerfoot and 3rd/4th for Holl at the TDL. So a late first Sandin and maybe two more late seconds. Not enough in my mind.
Also not sure how much leash KD will have when if comes to trading futures if management will fire him if we don't win in the playoffs

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>So the leafs give up a premium to get a guy who isnt even better than Murray? Why on earth would they do that? The Leafs dont need a long term option in net, they need a guy who can help them contend now. Hart is not that guy, Murray probably isnt either but they arnt giving up good assets to let a younger guy stink.</div></div>
Only thing I like about MM is he has won two cups and was a big part of it, very similar to what Kuemper did with the AVs. They didn't lose their team the cup! They didn't need to steal the cup for the other team they just needed not to give it to them. Leaf goalies over the last few PO have been just as mentally(weak first goals) and the other teams goalies haven't given up the leaky goals at the wrong time.

I agree with you, Hart wouldn't be my first option but him over MM 100% the same with Blackwood. I would risk them getting back to what they were as opposed to Soup becoming Tim Thomas.
unfortunately Vasi, sorokin,Shesterkin,Hellebuyck are not available and pretty much the rest of them all fall under the same category of not really proving they can win in the playoffs

If they had just kept Campbell, or added Fleury at last year’s deadline, I’d feel much more confident in the Leafs future than I do now.</div></div>
Nothing that Jack accomplished in TO would leave me as a Leaf fan happy with having Jack in net for the next 5 years for 5mil per. Jack is 1000% one of the best humans in hockey but he has had inconsistant play and injury prone. Would i have taken Jack at 5mil over 2 season over what we currently have yes but Jack still has his question marks as does Fred (Both need PO success). The Leafs need a legit killer in net come playoffs with the current mental fragility of this team and that will not change with replacing a bunch of bottom six players. Goaltend will make or break this team come PO

As a Leaf fan i would like all Leaf fans to think back to when MO was 24 had 4 years left on a 5mil per deal and tell me what you would have traded him for? If what is currently being offered what you would honestly accept feel free to make that offer if not lets not feed the Leaf fan hate fire.
My guess would be 1st-top prospect-youngish replacement 2nd/3rd and more if you add cap going the other way
My guess is ARI starts with 1st and Knies or we have no conversation

I agree with you, I believe Holl is a placeholder at this point and would be the easiest for the Leafs to move on from with internal options and a few UFA's that could fill his spot at a lot cheaper

Why isnt it an option? saves the Leafs $2,250,000 in cap doesn't cost us anything to move them and a team may claim one of them on the way down or on the way back up if they have an early season injury.
And its not like players havent been sent down in the past. Ranger did it to Redden for the better part of two seasons and the Habs did it with Alzner

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Moving Kerfoot will be VERY hard because he has a ten-team no-trade clause (just like Justin Holl), and most of the contending teams to which he'd probably prefer to go don't have the cap space. About the only realistic possibilities I can see for him are Winnipeg and Minnesota; everyone else either can't afford his cap hit or else is almost certainly on his NTC list.</div></div>
Other option is waive them both and the are free for anyone, if the clear they can travel and practices with the team and be around if we have injuries. More option with these two players than adding a sweetener for teams to take them.

the deal is 1 for 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>He holds value to you, the budget teams are already set at middle six. The Ducks literally have no spot for him on the roster, we don't care that he is only owed 750k, you would have needed to move him to us before we signed Vatrano to do the same thing for his real money owed to have mattered. Only way we take him is to move a roster player back the other way, such as Grant.
We would do Grant for Kerfoot straight up, as we get the better player, but Toronto still gets a swiss army knife type guy and 2 mil in savings. We have absolutely no reason to add draft capital to that exchange.</div></div>
Did you even read what i posted? I stated just as you did what i thought his trade value would be but added a late pick(6-7) and I also stated that he had value to the Leafs and named players that should be gone before him.
I really do not see the Ducks as a budget teams as much as say Buff/Win/Ari where the ownership at this point would rather have cap hit/low real dollars or insured dollars.
The Kerfoot/Grant trade would make the most sense if a deal was done between both teams I just don't think Kerfoot is the first to go

Kerfoots value will be to a budget team as his Cap is 3.5mil but only 750,000 in real dollars. Team have paid in the past for these type of players. Teams cant find UFA's that give them this type of cap hit with no real money owed. If he is traded i agree that it will be for a lesser cap player and later pick. Kerfoot still hold value as member of the team as a swiss army knife type of player and we would not pay to get rid of him when we can waive Holl/Simmer/Clifford/Anderson

Predictions- Toronto Maple Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoachCoach</b></div><div>Tough division this year. To me, Tampa and Toronto fight for 1-2 spots. Florida has a chance to crack it but I think they end up at 3. Boston holds a slight edge over Ottawa for 4-5 spots (depends on Boston start with injuries). Buffalo and Detroit could surprise everyone and possibly get into a 5 spot, but most likely fight for 6-7. MTL brings up the rear and continues acquiring young talent.</div></div>
I think the Atlantic will come down to what teams start hot as there will be way less "easy" games and goaltending will ultimately determine how this shakes out.
TB has played a ton of hockey over the last three season and will also start without some key guys but have the best goalie in the division (top 3 in the game) I think they are all interchangeable minus the Habs and feel the Leafs could fall to 4th, I just don't agree with the OP in the sense that i believe that the difference in 3-7 got smaller rather than the gap between 1-3. the top four teams are all worse off to start the season on paper and team 5-7 closed the gap just not sure how much and how quickly

Not sure how Boston is better than TO.
McAvoy and Marchand out until December, Grzelcyk November and Bergeron/Reilly may miss the start of the season. That's a lot for a team to overcome
Fla/TB also lost players without top end replacements.

I just don't see us attaching anything to Kerfoot. he is only being paid 750,000 in real money and that's what matters to budget teams/ teams taking on cap. With his actual dollars owed i see a Bjorkstrand
type return. Similar point totals over their careers and Kerfoot @ almost 2 mil less cap and 4+ mil less real money. I get that he is a Leaf and that alone makes his value zero. He is a good player and the Leafs really shouldn't move him unless it is part of a package for an upgrade or they get something in return
