Varlamov was my last cut on G. I should have had DeBrincat there.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>That's not how offer sheets work. If you give him 7 years, the total contract value is still averaged over 5 years when determining RFA compensation. At 7 years $7.75M, the cap hit for determining compensation is $10.85M, which is two 1sts, a 2nd, and a 3rd. The most you could offer him to keep his compensation at a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd is 7 years $6.23M.</div></div>
I am aware at how it works.

Nurse and Girard over Weber and Reilly. There's a chance it could be Mike Smith over Blackwood if he continues to play the way he did this year.

Before people go nuts saying the overpay on Hart, I miss typed it. AAV was meant to be 7.750M. therefore the compensation would be a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, all in 2022.

oilers are close
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluetomorrow83</b></div><div>Not sure how you can state Nuge has more EV points then Danault. Last 3 years Danault has 112 EV points and Nuge has 92. One of these players doesn't play with Hart level line mates and has much higher Dzone start%. If I had to pick between both of them its Danault especially if Tippett is going to go to Dynamic Duo on same line for half a season again. Pretty sure every NHL center can play the wing so saying Nuge is more versatile really doesn't stick.</div></div>

Look for your self lmao, last three seasons at 5on5 nuge has had 34+33+14=81 and danault has had 22+29+10=61. idk why you're arguing with me, I want Danault on the oilers but if it's gonna cost 6 give that money to nuge.

Reilly could be a potential flip candidate, I can see why the caps would say no because they arguably don't need defense but it's a fairly even trade none the less

oilers are close
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluetomorrow83</b></div><div>Danault has outscored Nuge 5v5 for 3 seasons running and he doesn't play with McD or Draisaitl (Nuge only had 15% of his total EV ice time without one). I'd rather pay 6M to the #2C that can score 5v5 and win 55% of faceoffs. Oilers need 5v5 players and Danault is one of the best currently.</div></div>
Danault's last 3 seasons: 30g 94a 124p (16, 45, 61)
Nuge last 3 season: 66g 99a 165p (37, 44, 81)
Nuge has outscored Danault in both total points and EV points, I'm 100% for the oilers getting Danault for his faceoffs, defence and abliity to step up to the top 6 incase of injury or loading up the top line. Nuge will get more money because of the higher offensive ablitly and good defence. He's also more versitile as he can play C or LW. Danault doesn't produce enough offence to warrant a 6mil + contract and based on this season, Nuge doesn't deserve it either.

Yeah I wouldn't want Tavares' contract on my team when you gotta resign RFA's within a few years, the only positives are that Smith and some buyouts come off the books when you need to resign those players. Trouba, Kreider, and Tavares would all be tradeable contracts to a team looking for one last cup push though.

Fair enough, I wanted to do something different because all of leafs moves had them grabbing Karlsson from Vegas. Maybe if the leafs added Liljegren?

he's not good enough on offence to warrant it, he's top 10 defensively, but top 40 overall because of the lack of offence. He will be paid like a 2/3C. I'd go 5x5 on Danault and he'd be the 3c behind Drat and McD, moves Coleman alongside Drat

I agree with you, it wouldn't be a bad thing for Columbus to try to get Caleb Jones, but the trade would probably be with Seattle. Unless the oilers protect him, Jones is most likely headed to Seattle.

I personally don't think the Canucks should go all in and buy, I think that their forward core is solid. I feel like the pieces I added will make them a bubble playoff while still saving some cap for next offseason where they could really go all in. A 3 c on a one could work though, instead of Khaira. Maybe Getzlaf or Wenneberg
