Not sure why you want Risto, he is really bad defensively
And so many assets on top to get him...
Wont help the Flames

Mark stone long term
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheChief</b></div><div>You think you're getting Stone for nothing at the deadline? Frolik's deadweight salary, Czarnik's a 4th liner and Graovac's AHL player. Just where is the value?
Even as a rental, Stone is gonna cost at the bare minimum Välimäki, Bennett and a 1st rounder.</div></div>
Okay I completely agree that what's been offered isn't anything for Stone, but you're way off with "Välimäki, Bennett and a 1st rounder" for Stone. That only even gets considered if Calgary has an extension with him as key of the trade. Otherwise it's a VAST overpayment.

That would be ideal and in the real world probably how it would work - but on this site if you don’t super overpay everyone one the selling team has an apoplectic fit!

Gallagher + Nylander
Gallagher just isn’t for sale. Not saying CGY’s offer isn’t good, it’s actually a good one, but MTL have no interest in moving Gally. Unless they get the better in the deal (which they don’t in this deal). Right now Pacioretty is the guy for sale from MTL. Make an offer for him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div><strong>TO has 3 top 2 pairing LHD defencemen on their roster, why would they need a 4th?</strong> This trade does not give them anything they need or want and takes away their 3rd best player. Explain to me how that makes sense?
When 2 teams trade, generally its for things they need. For example Toronto needs a top 4 RHD, Winnipeg is in a cap crunch and Tyler Myers is available, he could be obtained for a 1st likely and Winnipeg doesn't have one this draft. A trade that meets the needs of both teams would be for TO to send a 1st to the Jets for Myers.
Your proposed trade sends unwanted assets to a team to obtain a superior player that would become arguable your second most talented player. Maybe 3rd depending on how you see Monahan.
Also don't counter with a Hamilton for Nylander trade, TO won't accept a Nylander for Hamilton trade, Nylanders ceiling is too high and Hamilton scores points but isn't great in his zone and takes a lot of bad penalties.
To doesn't want to trade with Calgary.</div></div>
It's pretty common knowledge league wide that Brodie is superior on his off side, Gulutzan was a dope and refused to let him play there. if you look at Brodie's most productive years you are essentially looking at a RD. Looking at all the Armchair GM's that Leafs fans make and comparing to what you are saying you think that Brodie is worse than Gardiner and Dermott, and that is just plain wrong. Brodie would arguably be your second best d man, Reilly would be the only Dman that is head and shoulders better and even at that "head and shoulders" is a stretch. He would be your number 1 RD which he has effectively played before, or your number 2 LHD, which he has had two off years at and is still better than any option the leafs have after Reilly down the left.

I continue to disagree with the majority of what you type. My trade proposal(s) aren't always perfection before I post them. My style is more towards, "read or hear something, evaluate it, see what it looks like on CF, then post it and let people talk about it". I appreciate feedback and commentary of all varieties, but it usually helps when a person laces in at least some semblance of objectivity.
Fortunately for TML fans, Dubas is running the show and not you.

All three of these deals dont make sense from the Flames perspective. Gallagher and Shaw are not scoring help. Gallagher alone isnt worth a 1st, let alone Brodie and Bennett tagged on. Shaw is pretty much worthless. Dzingel is probably worth a 5th round pick, so trading 3 good prospects which all together would fetch a 1st makes no sense. Orpik is overpaid, slow and just plain bad. You are better off holding onto Stone vs paying a bad defensemen 5.5M per.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>Take out the fluff pieces. If you want Brown and Leivo, the Leafs would probably expect back Jankowski if they are taking on Stone's contract as well, even if some of it is retained.</div></div>
There is no way those two pieces together are worth Jankowski, I don't think it is due to value I just think that moving a strong developing C that has been in the system forever would be a mistake. I think Bennett is hardly a fluff piece but we can take Brown out and just go Stone retained for Leivo. We seem to disagree on the value of Bennett clearly. Plus Klimchuk got his first crack at the league this year and didn't look out of place, I would argue he is a better piece than you think as well! Thank you for the feedback though!

Wow, massive over payment for someone who has a trade request in and only 1 year left on his contract. 2 recent 4th overall picks, another player drafted in the 1st that is still young, 10th overall this year, AND a 1st next year? Oilers are trying to improve their d, Larsson won't be part of the package. I don't see them moving Puljujärvi either. Maybe the 2 1st rounders, Nuge, and Yamamoto.

Acquiring a right winger(I want your thoughts on the trade)
that doesn't get you Kessel, let alone kessel with retained salary. Sam Bennett may only be 21, but he's three seasons in and he's never looked like anything more than a 3rd line winger. Spencer Foo was good in College, but he's magic beans at this point. College players burn out as often as they take off, and there's no way of knowing.
