<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div><strong>TO has 3 top 2 pairing LHD defencemen on their roster, why would they need a 4th?</strong> This trade does not give them anything they need or want and takes away their 3rd best player. Explain to me how that makes sense?

When 2 teams trade, generally its for things they need. For example Toronto needs a top 4 RHD, Winnipeg is in a cap crunch and Tyler Myers is available, he could be obtained for a 1st likely and Winnipeg doesn't have one this draft. A trade that meets the needs of both teams would be for TO to send a 1st to the Jets for Myers.

Your proposed trade sends unwanted assets to a team to obtain a superior player that would become arguable your second most talented player. Maybe 3rd depending on how you see Monahan.

Also don't counter with a Hamilton for Nylander trade, TO won't accept a Nylander for Hamilton trade, Nylanders ceiling is too high and Hamilton scores points but isn't great in his zone and takes a lot of bad penalties.

To doesn't want to trade with Calgary.</div></div>

It's pretty common knowledge league wide that Brodie is superior on his off side, Gulutzan was a dope and refused to let him play there. if you look at Brodie's most productive years you are essentially looking at a RD. Looking at all the Armchair GM's that Leafs fans make and comparing to what you are saying you think that Brodie is worse than Gardiner and Dermott, and that is just plain wrong. Brodie would arguably be your second best d man, Reilly would be the only Dman that is head and shoulders better and even at that "head and shoulders" is a stretch. He would be your number 1 RD which he has effectively played before, or your number 2 LHD, which he has had two off years at and is still better than any option the leafs have after Reilly down the left.

I continue to disagree with the majority of what you type. My trade proposal(s) aren't always perfection before I post them. My style is more towards, "read or hear something, evaluate it, see what it looks like on CF, then post it and let people talk about it". I appreciate feedback and commentary of all varieties, but it usually helps when a person laces in at least some semblance of objectivity.

Fortunately for TML fans, Dubas is running the show and not you.
