Would rather have Bennett over Simmonds imo. Wouldn’t mind trading something else for Simmonds though.

CGY would be quite content to keep the guy who is 8 years younger and still developing, plus some valuable picks, over the guy who is 8 years older and declining.

Maybe Mangiapane + picks, but not Bennett.

I'm also really gun shy about bringing Simmonds' next contract onto the books. He's done the 30 G, 60 PTS thing a few times now...and was patently underpaid on his last deal. So he'll be looking for JVR money...and >4 years of term. Not a great combination for a guy who turns 31 this summer, especially when you look at the age of CGY's core.

Hard to justify tying up a large chunk of cap space for that type of player. I would've loved to have him around for the past 3 years though.
