<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KakkoForMauriceRichardAward</b></div><div>The Leafs were bad this year because of 3 things:
1-Andersen. Self explanatory.
2-injuries
3-lack of work ethic and toughness/grit and the will to win. How many times have I seen a Leafs player (in the top 4) lose the puck and then do nothing to get it back. That's the problem they don't seem to care 1 night out of 3. They play 2 AMAZING games in a row which makes you think «wow they're legit contenders» and then don't bother to show up the game after. And just the fact that I don't see a large portion of the Leafs fanbase be OUTRAGED like I am after seeing them not even trying for 60 minutes straight kinda tells you everything you need to know about that fanbase</div></div>

I have your number 3 at my 1. lack of effort and will to win, if by gritty you mean being giving more effort and willing to win more than i can accept that, i just dont like when people say they need a guy like gudas or someone like that and thats their problem

"That's the problem they don't seem to care 1 night out of 3. They play 2 AMAZING games in a row which makes you think «wow they're legit contenders» and then don't bother to show up the game after."

Thats their biggest problem, you nailed it. i agree completely,

"And just the fact that I don't see a large portion of the Leafs fanbase be OUTRAGED like I am after seeing them not even trying for 60 minutes straight kinda tells you everything you need to know about that fanbase"

agree 100% as well, these fans think they play their heart out day in and day out and just dont get the job done, because they dont have good D, toughness etc. which is why IM not a fan of people ****ting on Dubas because its the players that like you said will play 1 good game out of 3, yeah hes not perfect at all, but to blame this season on him i think is crazy, players are way too taented to put up stinkers like that.

id put goaltending at 2, Andersen was so inconsistent this year, but i think people tend to try and look away from that because the last 2 years he has probably stolen games for us so people may look at that

only reason why i would put injuries 3 is because although we couldnt seem to catch a break is that every team gets injuries and thats just a thing to overcome and there are games even when we were injured that we should have won which relates back to point 1

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>That's a good question and there multiple ways you could look at it. For the sake of this I like G/GP and typically I like to look at the last 3 seasons. Why 3 seasons, well because it can help balance out those career years, down years or injury year. Now the most common "goal scorer" number is 30 goals or in this case 0.365 G/GP, but lets round up and call it 0.37. Over the last 3 years there have been 393 forwards that have played a minimum of 100GP, with 45 of those having an average of a 0.37 G/GP (roughly 11% of NHL forwards). Top 10% is insanely good, but is it elite? For the sake of this, lets call the top 1% of goal scorers elite or in this case the top 4 based on G/GP over the last 3 years. That gives us the following:

Player - (goals over 82 based on G/GP)

Alex Ovechkin - (52)
Auston Matthews - (48)
David Pastrnak - (46)
Connor McDavid - (43)

So they all average over 40 goals. Now lets say you set the bar at you must average 40 goals to be considered "elite".... Now you're list expands to include:

Leon Draisaitl - (42)
Nathan MacKinnon - (42)
Nikita Kucherov - (40)
Patrice Bergeron - (40)

Now I'll admit as I Bruins fan I have a hard time calling Patrice Bergeron an elite goal scorer because he's never actually hit 40 goals, but over the last 3 years he scores at a 40G pace. So including these players to the original 4, you come out to 8 players who've average a minimum of a 40 G/GP pace, which is roughly the top 2% of forward over the last 3 years that have played a minimum of 100 games.

Thoughts?</div></div>

like how you got there, i can agree with those, but yeah bergeron i wouldnt quite have in there, i know the stats say otherwise but when i see or think patrice i think of the elite 2 way defensive monster before elite goal scorer, thanks for responding and taking away from the soap opera drama that was going on
