I’ll agree to disagree.
Dmen aren’t binary -> Good O, Bad D.
And Quinn is not simply bad at D. He’s an elite Defenseman on a **** team.
Dougie is great too, but his play is not similar to Quinn.

Canucks won’t retain this much on Boeser. But as a fan, I’d love this deal. We’re essentially buying another 1st.

Two options for Deadline Brockbuster
Very nice job structuring these deals.
As a VAN fan, I really want us to deal Brock for futures. But these both feel steep. Which makes me think it’s probably pretty close to accurate.

As a Canucks fan, I accept.
Perhaps they use the draft capital to find some RHD help in the offseason.

As a Canucks fan, I really hope we can move a winger for a package similar to this. I’m assuming VAN would have to retain.

Lol.
I don’t know about slaughtered.
But as a VAN fan, I hope we keep Schenn unless we get a ‘23 2nd. Mostly bc of how brutal our D is.

I like this framework. Unfortunately, I’m guessing VAN needs to retain more and add a pick.
Like Garland with retention + 5th for a 2nd.

I understand your point. It feels like VAN has made these types of deals for 10yrs, and rarely has cap pace or flexibility.
Yet I would accept this. It’s pretty close to a wash, but adding a centre and getting some new faces is appealing to me.

From what I’ve seen of Liljegren, I don’t think he is who/what VAN should target as a return for Bo. What we have here is what is known as a difference in opinion.

No need to get upset my friend.
I just don’t love Liljegrens game. Imo he’s soft in his own end and doesn’t produce enough offensively to justify a deal for Horvat.
Take care!

A lot would come down to what Alvin’s views Lysell as. Based on his profile and WJC, I think Lysell reasonably projects as a top 6. But god damn, I’ve been hoping to get a C or D as a return.

Offseason
Clearly you are a massive hockey fan with a wealth of knowledge. Part of what makes this community great.
But based on your response, I think we are very misaligned. At no point did I say Centres <em>have</em> to be big. There is, however, a very physical element to playing in the middle, which is why, historically, so many of the best centremen are notoriously strong/physical specimens. Yes, undersized pivots who lack physical strength can be effective with tenacity and hockey IQ. And yes, the 4 HOF centres you listed were undersized. But that doesn’t change the fact that, IMO, Newhook does not project as an impactful Centre.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>worldwidesensei</b></div><div>Read my mind on Giroux, but would you take a 2025 1st?</div></div>
Probably not tbh.
1. I think that VAN should target a grade A prospect 1:1 (possibly VAN retains or takes back a bad contract).
2. Or get a ‘23 1st plus a B prospect.
We shall see

Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>I'd say, in some ways, you're right. Newhook has not had a season like was expected from him and is getting pushed around a bit. But, he is only 21 and in his second season on an injury-riddled team. He still has a lot of runway to grow into a center; there are plenty of centers that are his size but he needs to continue to get stronger and a bit meaner. He is still on pace for his same points totals as last season and to score more goals than he did last year. He's got work to do but there's no reason to give up on him, especially not for a rental.</div></div>
Ya fair. By no means suggesting they give up on him.
