<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kopitar11</b></div><div>Well,they are no longer division rivals,I dont see them ever moving Chychrun, but I wanted to exploit the value,8th OVR + Madden=Turcotte,Clague+1st=Anderson,2 2nds + Durzi + Grundstrom = 1st,so I don't see how the value is off,if anything it gives Arizona organizational depth and draft picks which they have forfeited. This trade would only make sense if Coyotes decided to rebuild, which wouldn't be a bad idea,as it is they are stuck in mediocrity for years to come, with Chychrun or without him.</div></div>

Chychrun is signed for the next 4 seasons for 4.6 mil and he just came in 10th in Norris voting. He’s a piece you build around, not trade.

As far as your valuations go, it’s the definition of quality over quantity. You don’t want to give those better pieces up because you’d rather have them than the pile of average prospects and good picks that you proposed in this deal. That’s exactly why the Coyotes would say no and hold out for something better. Chychrun would only ever be traded for a young future/current #1 center.

And as far as divisions go, it doesn’t matter. Phoenix and Los Angeles are still geographically aligned and other than the NHL next year the rest of our sports teams play LA teams in division. Calling it a rivalry is a stretch because I don’t think Los Angeles views any of our teams that way but Arizona sports fans hate LA sports teams. The worst way to build a fan base would be to send your best player to your “rival”, especially for an underwhelming package.
