Not that Boston would do it but what if it were Carlo instead of Marino?

B2024 BOS NJD OTT

Why? In this hypothetical you have just traded Marino and would need someone to play behind Hamilton and Nemec. I don’t know NJs prospects well so maybe you have someone up and coming I am not aware of.

We got no value out of Rick Nash, I insist on a redo Mr. Cornbread.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dekes</b></div><div>I’d rather have peeke than Marino.
Peeke fits our 3rd pair and what we want from it more, he’s physical and causes havoc. Bruins need more guys like that and Wotherspoon and peeke as a pairing will do work on opponents if we can continue to move on through playoffs. They are the type of bottom pairing we needed last season against Florida.</div></div>
Well in this scenario you would not be keeping Marino either but I get where you are coming from.

Byfield OS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>i'm not so sure they match, that's a pretty aggressive offer sheet.
btw, both those trades are ridiculously bad for boston. what team do you think would hire sweeney after neely cans him for making those moves?</div></div>
As indicated in reply above the Lysell trade was just to guarantee the Bruins’ pick comes back. Feel free to substitute whatever assets as long as the pick is returned. I don’t think the Ullmark trade is that far off. Remove the retention and that’s probably the type of package one could expect.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ste_Catherine_Street</b></div><div>Why would you give up on Lysell?
That OS is ridiculously high. LA would be crazy to match it.</div></div>
I realize this is ridiculous, I was just curious at which point LA would say screw it and take the picks. Anything lower I assume they would match.
In regards to Lysell, I just needed an asset to reacquire the Bruins pick in order to make the offer sheet work. You can plug anyone in here as long as it resulted in the pick being returned.

all in cup or BUST
Bruins would do this but I don’t think this would be the best move for the Oilers. There are probably better options for their right side.

Bergeron Returns

Agreed, Jackets made more sense before they acquired Provorov. There are better trade partners out there but I think the return is what they could potentially expect.

Im Not Dead Yet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojohawk</b></div><div>Certainly Boston's perogative to buy him out, but I would not be counting on the Hawks (or anyone else for that matter) to be eating 4 million real dollars (or 2.666 for someone entertaining buying him out) for a 5th that is virtually a 6th with Boston's record. A 5th is the currency used to pickup 500K in deadline retension, not 4 million (again....very real) dollars. Hawk's might buy a 2nd round pick for 4 million, but I am pretty confident they won't be spending that (or even the 2.666 buyout cost) to buy a 5th that is essentially a 6th. Hawks and Boston are a real bad fit for this Reilly dump concept. If the Hawks are going to spend 4 million on a LHD, it will not be for a bottom pairing guy (the lineup spot you want to rotate through the half dozen prospects the Hawks have at that position). I would rather the Hawks look to free agency/trades to find a LHD that can play top pair (on a terrible team the next few seasons) and then slide into a middle pairing as hopefully one of the kids develops into that role....even if it means invest an extra million or two over Reilly's 4 milllion dollar salary. I would give Graves 5x5 long before investing 4 in Reilly for a season.</div></div>
I agree, it would be hard to find a team to take that contract for less than a 2nd in this environment. Maybe a 3rd and another piece but seems like a stretch. I do not think it was being suggested that another team would actually take him for a 5th rounder, that’s just what the Bruins would be willing to offer given the buyout option available to them.

Understandable. I do not follow Edmonton too closely and last I heard there seemed to be a lack of confidence in Yamamoto. Glad he has turned it around. Per the description the trade was just an example as I really have no idea who would be an optimal trade partner.

I would agree with this but argue he is still a versatile player worth a late 2023 2nd round pick. The 2024 2nd round pick is optimistic.
