Adams running out of options
As I stated months ago Jack probably won't be traded this year, if at all, Adams might hold him to his entire contract.

Not overly concerned about scoring at this point. Developing the kids, and continuing to add young cost controlled assets through trades/drafting should be the focus. It's how rebuilds work. You make major additions when the time is right, not just for the sake of doing it.
Ask Toronto fans about the Phil Kessel trade. You rush a rebuild you end up having someone who can score a bunch, but also end up with a roster of player who can't support him, leading to giving up major assets like the Seguin/Hamilton picks. It's not the right time to be blowing the prospect wad to get Eichel.

Adams running out of options
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>eVANder</b></div><div>Do we think Eichel is playing another game for the Sabres though? I get that his NMC doesnt kick in until next year and that he has term left but I think he needs to be gone by training camp or the price tag is going to drop. There's no rush for the teams enquiring either and, in fact, alot of them are moving on because they need to build a team and can't plan for a $10 million buffer.
They need Eichel to get healthy and play some games if they want to get what they're asking for.
This is much different than the Duchene situation.</div></div>
Yeah, I don't disagree at all. Eichel certainly isn't making it easy on Buffalo, but they've either got to rush and pull the trigger in the next month (Which is getting harder because of what you said above), or wait until the draft next year when he's hopefully healthy. An in-season trade is a near impossibility because of the cap hit.
If I'm Adams, I'm sitting down with Eichel's representative ASAP, mainly to tell them to the shut the heck up. I get that the relationship is fractured, but Buffalo isn't going to trade him until the value is there, and them meddling in the process is affecting his value.

Well as a Sabres fan, this is a good offer obviously
I don’t think it makes a ton of sense for Vegas, as they’d likely want to ADD Eichel to their team without subtracting important roster players
And the Sabres would obviously just look to flip Marchessault and Smith for picks/prospects/young players

The Wild could
I'm pretty sure that is an overpay for Kaprizov. He's a 24 year old rookie, with one good season under his belt. They would be better off trying to rope him into a $6M bridge deal.
Buffalo likely does that deal for Eichel, but more so they can repackage some of them to take on team's cap dumps and the picks & prospects that will come with them. Buffalo has a great opportunity to become very active this offseason to set themselves up for a huge future.

I'd rather use Virtanen to move Eriksson with some retention. With the Canucks luck if we trade him in the division he'll pot 30 next year. That's also probably too much for Demko and too little for Hughes and Pettersson if you're gonna give them 8 year deals

Schmidt >>> Tanev. One of Juolevi, Rathbone, Rafferty will take Stecher spot. Also VAN young players gained a lot of experience from the playoffs so they will be better as well. Goaltending might be a concern but Ian Clark can get Holtby back to his old self and Demko should improve as well, Markstrom would not be the goalie he is right now without Clarks help. Losing Toffoli sucks but VAN only had him for 10 games and few playoff games I don't think that's going to be an issue. One concern I have is depth on the blueline and Edlers age.

As an Oilers fan Vancouver is actually the team that scares me the most. The fact that Pettersson is still improving and Hughes has only played 1 season means that your young core should actually get better this season. And I think you guys are going to like Schmidt a lot. Its all up to the goaltending, if one of those 2 has a good season then I don't see how they miss the playoffs tbh

All depends on the kids and the tending, Hughes and petterson prove they are elite, and tending better than avg, they will be top half of the division, lesser tending or slumps and they will be lower. Short season I could see there pp being lethal and some streaking tending could win them the division.

It’s either a really good trade or a really bad trade. Maybe the Frenchie does this. But Podkolzin will not be traded, at least right now.

I really like Holtby, but he is a bit past his prime and will struggle with that D.
I am kinda feeling the same way after the Jackets cleared a bunch of cap space and laid an egg.
Next year should be a free-for-all for signings with (hopefully)i an end to Covid and fans in the seats again, Seattle coming on board and all the free agent contracts coming up.

I read that in theathletic. Benning deserves far more blame for the 2nd day. Forget the emotional hurt of day 1. That was necessary. Stecher is not even a favourite of mine but he's good for what he is as a 3rd pair RS. Benning completely botched that one!

It's going to be two contracts 8x10 with Petey making a bit more. I've seen many creative trade ideas here. I was fine with Benning yesterday, not TODAY! Stecher, not moving bad money for bad money. Stop trying to hit homeruns this year, forget it! Get your ducks in order for 2021
