Are The Ducks A Playoff Team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>eanelson</b></div><div>As a ducks fan, at best they finish is 3rd in division (unlikely) but maybe a wildcard?
I sadly think they will keep Mahura & Comtois in San Diego for another year (barring injuries).
Optimism: Hakanpaa will be a solid, shut-down D man | healthy Kase | Rakell cant have a worse season| prospects - Steel, Jones, Terry, Guehle could have a positive impact
Pessimistic bc GMBM keeps bringing in useless players: Ritchie, Shore, Martinsen, Deslauriers, Del Zotto, Grant</div></div>
If only Murray could trade Ritchie for Matthew Benning or Scott Mayfield . . .

ANAHEIM DUCKS FANS - PLEASE REPLY - ATTENTION DUCKS FANS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>eanelson</b></div><div>No to the trade because the Ducks need scorers most & Rakell is one of the only options that is NHL ready now.
Larsson has high potential & is still developing. Very good skater & moves the puck well. He is a little bit of a risk in the defensive zone by losing coverage & panics with the puck deep in his own zone.
Mahura looks like he has higher ceiling than Larsson. Skates extremely well, offensively gifted and can play any situation. The Ducks also have a plethora of left handed D men ahead of him (Fowler, Lindholm, Larsson & Guehle). The Ducks also really like to develop prospects before sending them to the NHL (rarely do draftees make opening night roster), so I believe that Mahura will be in SD for the season (barring injuries).
Jones is a big kid that skates really well for his size. Didnt get to see much of his scoring touch last year but he creates chances & plays with high energy. Ducks are a little cautious because he is very similar to Nick Ritchie, who is another big LW. The only issue with Ritchie is he does not have good speed & Ducks fans know that he is notorious for taking bad penalties (offensive zone or late game penalties). Jones will likely get a roster spot unless Comtois jumps him, but GMBM will likely try to develop Comtois further in SD.
As for trading for any of the 3? I think the most likely to be traded is Larsson bc of the logjam at LD & Mahura is probably better, younger & signed for longer. I think you could get back a solid 2nd line scoring winger for Larsson.
Ducks should rid themselves of Shore & Ritchie to make room for both Jones & Comtois.</div></div>
Good Info ... Thanks bud.

Anaheim's only real pressing need is at RD, both at the NHL and prospect level. Other than a trade of one or two of our mid-level forward prospects for Gudbranson and/or Ruhwedel, I don't see the Ducks and Penguins being good trade partners right now.
Guhle, Larsson and Mahura should all be NHL players, along with Steel, Jones, Terry and Sherwood. And on the horizon are Zegras, Groulx and Lundestrom.

The ducks have a logjam of NHL players rn as you said, they probably wouldn't want to trade one of their best for multiple less good players, if anything they'd try to trade a few prospects/roster players for one really good player

Lundestrom is gonna be solid, dont put him on the 4th line. Let him play top line minutes in the AHL

Opening night expectations
Overall, I think it looks good. However, I'd probably switch Comtois and Ritchie. I know Ritchie had good chemistry with Kase, but he also had good chemistry with Henrique. I just think that Comtois will ultimately end up the better player and has the skating ability required to be a 1st line player.

ducks opening night
Shore and Ritchie in the top 6...? Rakell on the third line...? Terry and Lundestrom on the 4th line...? Rowney on the third...? No Steel...? I doubt they run three goalies, Del Zaster better not be in the top 6, Holzer probably isn't in the top 4, Guhle Mahura Larsson and Hakanpaa>>>both of them, Guhle is probably>Larson, but I could see any of the three (or all of the three) of Guhle Larsson and Mahura making it

GMBM growing a pair
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheJoeMan</b></div><div>Why would Murray try to sign a player to an offer sheet when he knows the other team would match? Why would Carlo (or any RFA for that matter) sign an offer sheet with the Ducks in the first place that wasn't an absolute over-payment? I get the idea of offer sheets are fun to speculate about but this team that isn't even that aggressive with UFAs will never be that aggressive with other team's RFAs. I mean, look how he treats his own? He put Ritchie over a barrel last year and won. Spectacularly. I can't think of anything more fruitless for this franchise to engage in right now than an offer sheet, especially in a rebuilding year.</div></div>
It's called your job is on the line if this team doesn't make a quick turn around or shows some kind of improvement this year. Carlo isn't worth an over payment in my eyes. I, however, do believe this team needs to make some kind of improvement on the right side of defense. Whether that be making an offer sheet or a trade it doesn't matter how it happens, it just needs to happen.
Ritchie wasn't worth more than what he got. How times did he take some stupid penalty in the 3rd period in the offensive zone? Before this last year, it was a ton. As fans we all knew Ritchie was going to take a dumb penalty in the third. I wouldn't call it fruitless.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>eanelson</b></div><div>Love the idea of signing Carlo but ducks need a scorer. Comtois & Mahura will likely be in San Diego next year (sadly). Jones will be in there & I really want to see Hakanpaa. Hopefully the ducks rid themselves of Shore, Ritchie, Del Zotto, Deslauriers, & Martinsen. And does anyone know if Eaves is going to play next year?</div></div>
Del Zotto, Deslauriers and Martinsen were all just acquired. Seems kind of pointless to look to move them before they've even played. They're also role players who are all just going to be spares anyway. And Shore and Ritchie are each on really cheap contracts and produce at decent rate for those prices (Ritchie especially). I see no burning need to move these players. There's room for them all most of the young guys to make the team. Eaves will probably never play hockey again.
