<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>earl08</b></div><div>You want to give Logan Cooley & Guenther space to flourish. Stephenson & Drouin are perfect complimentary players & bring a winning history. Their Forwards have a lot of depth already, so major additions should really be on the back end. You get more bang for your buck on defense, so that's why I went big with Pesce and Walker. You could even add Skjei or Ghost Bear to really beef up the D. They have the draft capital to spend big on rentals too. I would be careful about committing huge term/money on a big name Forward like Stamkos, Guentzel, or Reinhart.</div></div>
They won't be careful or over think things like Seattle did...they will build a love at first site team...just like Vegas did...ALL IN BABY!!!

Not sure why Utah would want to "dump" Schmaltz and Kerfoot, they were pretty good for AZ. But, I think CHI could have interest if they do want their contracts gone.

It will be very interesting to see what they do, along with the Panthers and Rangers. I'm especially interested to see what happens with Sam Reinhart.
Thank God for the Oilers otherwise I would be dying to see the offseason at this point. The Eastern playoffs are bad thus far. They should call this... simply, the Western Playoffs, and not the Playoffs.

Fitting Landy Without Blowup
I wouldn't call them fine by any means but the sitution is nowhere near as bad as some of the vultures on here like to make out. Probably a little light on Rants there and also Ned but I think the cap probably increases by at least 4 mil for this particular season if not more given the predicted rise coming. The Avs are very much going to have to rely on the rental situation, cheap contracts in the bottom order and/or developing young players on ELCs (something historically they haven't been great at). The issue with the rental scenario being used constantly is the draining of the pool of youngsters vis a vis having no draft picks, and their scouting will also have to improve to find gems in the lower rounds.

Kaprizov Switches Locker Rooms
I think the Kaprizov vs Rantanan question is a good one. Which is the better player? Rants is top 6 in the league scoring but plays with Mac, Kap is surrounded by lesser talent and is 17 in scoring.
They are both exceptional. At the end of the day I’d keep rants because he is ours.

To both trades and Stephenson: sure, why not? Boqvist I'd like to keep, I think he's an ideal 7th-D and breakout candidate. You'd hope to get at least a 3rd for him.

Who Wants Georgie
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>earl08</b></div><div>IMO the Avs puckmoving style tends to give up more high danger chances than a lockdown team like LAK. They expect G to cover up those chances on a regular basis. Georgiev likes to read the D coverage & anticipate shots, but when coverage breaks down - he breaks down too. Kuemper was such a good fit in COL bc he developed scramble skills from years of playing behind bad D in AZ.</div></div>
This is for the most part true. I don't think he can be blamed for a lot of the ones where the Avs simply don't clear the net front (whether it be the puck or the man) however. That's a huge weakness the Avs D have imo and he gets hung out to dry far too much. I can understand if he's p***ed at the Avs D play at present. I would be too. With a smaller goalie you also can't bank on the puck just hitting him because he covers so much area - as it was with Kuemper. That size in addition to the scrambling ability makes a huge difference and partly why Justus is looking better for the Avs. It's some of the more simple ones that he should have that are the ones that frustrate me with Georgie. Soft goals I dislike with any goalie. I would also agree he's no Hasek when it comes to scrambling - a comparatively small G who played so much bigger. That's the kind of G the Avs need if they're smaller but they don't come around too often!

Who Wants Georgie
I don't think all of this can be put on Georgie. He hasn't been as good as we'd like for sure, but some puck luck would also be nice. I'm with you on both being a former goalie (whilst nowhere near this level as a caveat) and that he has some issues which should really have been worked out by now by him and the goalie coach but the D in front of him has been woeful at times to say the least including the top 2. I've lost count of how many times Toews & Makar have fumbled pucks this year or plain had a hole in their stick or been out of position/played it wrong. Very much some back to basics needed on the defensive end and also the PP needs to start shooting the puck instead of looking for perfection all the damn time. They might score some more then to give Georgie and Juice a chance if they're having a night where they aren't really 'on'.

He hasn't shown this level of play over a whole season in several years and nowhere close to the level of the NHL. Maybe he succeeds, but its a big risk fo sho</div></div>
Word of advice from Anus. You shouldn't use the words sphincter and juice so close to one another.

Kaprizov Switches Locker Rooms
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ac3L1ght</b></div><div>Uh, not really.
If you REALLY wanted Kaprizov, it would probably cost you:
Mikko Rantanen
Jean-Luc Foudy
Riley Tufte
Ivan Ivan
A Goalie Prospect
2024 1st Rounder
2025 1st Rounder (Which you don't have)
And a few lower down picks
If you want this man so bad, you should yell at your scouts.</div></div>
That’s a bit extreme. The difference between Kap and Rant is minimal and the main factor to their differences in value is mainly the additional year of term. If they both made the exact cap hit and had the same term they would be a 1 for 1 and maybe a mid pick/prospect to balance

Prospoal you made a has good logic Avs have trade cap in order to make the deal work. Minni gets the cap and some long term help plus the potential of the two young assets.

Merzlikins solution
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>earl08</b></div><div>CLB best improvements need to be in the front office. If they can fix their leadership, everything else will fall into place. Carl Soderberg turned it around with Bednar, so its possible with Elvis too!</div></div>
This is assuming they agree to going their separate ways. If that is avoidable, I don't see a problem with keeping Merzlikins. He's a decent enough goaltender. But this is just me coming to terms with that buying out Merzlikins or doing the often-proposed Campbell swap is not the disaster I painted it out to be in my head.
