At under 13 minutes per game 5v5 and a bias towards offensive zone starts, I don't find any of that to be particularly surprising. Perhaps better than anticipated, but to tell me that Toronto doesn't have the best set of forwards in the North division would be folly. His relative rates suggest he's middle of the pack in terms of Toronto's defenders and that he's been a very good value add for this season, but I have concerns regarding his age, injury history, and how this season was his least-productive season that wasn't prematurely ended due to injury.
I think he makes a better #7 than he does a full-time roster player, especially if it means further delaying Liljegren from meaningful minutes.

That Oleksiak-Bogosian pairing would be a nightmare to endure, and not for the opposition. Oleksiak's only upside is that he's 7 feet tall. Bogosian is all but washed. A Dermott-Hakanpaa pairing would both be much more cost-effective and on-ice productive.
Edmonton declines the Reilly trade. Great player, not what they need. Nor do I think this is the kind of return that I think Dubas would find acceptable. The picks - and resultant players they become - are too far out to help the Leafs win now. If the plan is to go all-in on Sandin (which I think is a mistake) then the goal of the Leafs management is to bring in equal value in the form of players or NHL-ready prospects. Stuff that helps the Leafs win today and tomorrow, not just tomorrow. I do still think that a defence with a left side that features all of Reilly, Muzzin, Sandin, and has Dermott waiting in the wings is far better than what you have here or anything post-Reilly trade. I don't necessarily think he needs to be brought back but unless you're getting that equivalent, NHL-ready value, he's better off as an internal rental.
If Dubas is dead-set on trading the guy, look to the Flyers. Some package built around Hagg, Patrick, and another roster player or prospect gives the Leafs those minor, complimentary pieces to address holes with on the roster, sustain their winning through longer team-controlled contracts, and frees up some form of cap space or at least balances its utilization, all while the other club in question draws genuine value out of the deal.

So Edmonton needs a Dman, but you really think Sandin and Liljegren NHL ready in October.

THIS IS HOW WE DO IT
just give marner and matthews the league minimum. They get to live in Toronto and can make it all back in endorsements. A million each for Marner and Matthews...they want to bring a cup to toronto, they'll take it.
As for that LA deal, Bracco is a stud, get them to throw in Doughty along with the potential first overall pick. They might have to eat some salary and maybe take Horton to make it work, but I think they want to see Toronto win a cup too, so they'll probably play along.
Then swing Zaitsev to St. Louis for Parayko. Parayko is better but he makes more money so it's even. Besides, The blues also want to see the leafs win a cup.
That's how you do it.

Taking Back the Small Transactions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>henryp</b></div><div>stop living in past, get over it and move on. Your team has great players and you cant keep em all.</div></div>
Agreed. There was something that Babs didnt like about Leivos game, or maybe his skills were redundant given how Babcock wants to construct the team. So, he's gone and playing with Petersen a d Boesser. Good for Lievo, vancouver will get something outta him.
That said, the inverse is probably true for Hyman. Babcock likes his skillset and he fits the team's make up. Babs is probably getting more out of Hyman than most teams would. So, we lose on the potential upside of Lievo but won with Hyman realizing his potential with how Babcock is coaching him. The way the cookie crumbles.

LAKEDM Blockbuster That Will Never Ever Happen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>henryp</b></div><div>I actually like this trade. yes, Edmonton surely wouldn't want to do the trade but the trade is not a terrible idea. I like this trade just cause Lucic would be out of town in the expensive of McDavid but at the same time seeing Kopitar and Doughty come back is great. I also think, because of younger player going to LAX would think draft pick has to go back the other way.</div></div>
I'm sure there would be a few picks and prospects included on both sides to round out the deal, but that wasn't really the point. The core pieces of the deal remain the same.

ARI says no, but are these trades after the expansion draft? Otherwise there is no way they take Martin when only 3 of OEL, Ellis, Gardiner, Riley, and Zaistev can be protected.

Ok I'm going to break this down for leafs fans since they don't understand the value of Ducks Defenseman:
Lindholm: Marner
Fowler: Kapanen/Brown ++
Vatanen: Kapanen/Brown +
Montour: Nylander
Theodore: Kapanen/ Brown
Manson: Nylander
