Offseason

if we re-invest in Domi the year before longterm then keeping anyone but Gallagher in the UFA pool becomes even harder .
the other option is we leave our RFA's unprotected and one or more of them get picked up .
Kotkanemi , Poehling and Lindgren are RFA that year and like Domi will be looking for Longterm deals to avoid exploring offer sheets .
after Weber and Price its possible to keep Gallagher with the youth but just by about 1.6 m give our take so even if we wanted to keeping Danault and Tatar means leaving youth unprotected .</div></div>
what are you talking about lmao, you do realize the only "Youth" that we will have to protect is kotkaniemi right?

its not constructive, go watch some hockey and learn a thing or two about players value, you want to trade an expiring contract and an echl player for a PROVEN top 2 defenceman good luck bud

They got hoffman for a 2nd round pick and this guy thinks he can turn hoffman and pysyk ( who is basically an echl player at this point) for subban xDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GangstaD87</b></div><div>I'm not saying that Subban doesn't have the skill to be a top pairing guy. I'm pointing out the fact that Nashville has to pay $27m over the next three seasons to a guy that is on the second pairing when they are soon to be strapped for cash. Also I don't understand why everyone undervalues Pysyk so heavily. You guys must not watch the Panthers at all.</div></div>
You must not watch hockey @ all

Well gallagher tatar danault line has fantastic chemistry so im not breaking that up, we really are missing a top line RW hopefully suzuki can make the jump, than you can have Danultt gally and tatar as your first line and have drouin domi suzuki as a 2nd line

What I will do this summer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bergevin</b></div><div>NJD lose Hall finished almost dead last. If we lose Weber or Price ( our 2 superstars ), not my fault. If Crosby miss a season, Pittsburgh wont do the playoffs. Same as McDavid for the Oilers. I gotta pay Domi Mete next season, after KK Gallagher Danault Tatar Poehling the season after. If I sign Duchene + Gardiner, we dont have cap space for them anymore. Use your brain if you have one</div></div>
This is one of the most ignorant comments someone can make. when GOOD teams lose a star player they shouldnt need to be a bottom 5 team like an edmonton with mcdavid or new jersey, If that does happen they dont even deserve to be within contention. YOU ALWAYS WANT TO GET BETTER. You do not pass on talented players like duchene who want to come here. Lets not pretend like signing domi + Mete will cost you more than 10 million we can afford to get duchene and we absoultley should get him, if not you can forget on getting far in the playoffs in the next couple of years. If you want to be the type of person that is okay with losing in the first round of the playoffs or not making it every year then do nothing in the offseason

What I will do this summer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bergevin</b></div><div>1- Agostino-Chaput-Deslauriers-Peca-DLR Hudon were the players fighting for the 4th line. / Huge upgrade with Thompson-Weal I add last TDL. Agostino-Chaput-Deslauriers or Byron-Thompson-Weal... you choose.
2- Weber missed October November, getting Weber at the beginning will be huge for the team.
3- Price turn like the Price we know when Weber joined the team in December. So we will have Price at the beginning of the season with Weber.
4- Mete Kotkaniemi will gained muscles this summer, I expected Mete to take another step next season.
5- I expect more from Drouin & Lehkonen
6- Kulak was a nice surprise this season, him & Petry are a good pairing.
With all these points, pretty sure we’ll get more than 96 points next season. Toronto won’t be better next season, they will lose good players this summer.</div></div>
See your looking at what did happen and your expecting things to stay the same.
2. is there any guarantee that weber plays a full season next year? if he gets injured what then? the GM will get blammed for not finding another defenceman and for the 3rd year in a row have 10m in extra cap space.
3. as much as i love my price his consistency over the last few years has been questionable, i do believe he will have a good year but again NO GUARANTEES
4. We should expect kotkaniemi and mete to take major steps next season however i still do not believe they will be "high end" players for montreal next year, especially kotkaniemi, i suspect his role will be greater on special teams.
5. You expect more from these guys yet you dont know if they are going to produce to their level (however i dont really expect lehk to be more than a 35 point guy)
6. You're right kulak was a nice surprise this season and him and petry WERE a good pairing, it remains to be seen if he can keep it up
In conclusion all of these points are just hopes and if something goes wrong mid season like weber getting injured or price not playing well and you just decided to be complacent in the summer with 10 million in cap room AGAIN that is a fire-able offence. You have teams around you getting better, now we had a good season and its time to build on that! Trade a draft pick! sign a guy in the off-season with skill.
