Offseason 15
LA doesn't have a need for Brodie now that they've signed Gavrikov. The only reason they'd trade Arvidsson is for the cap space, and this doesn't help them with that at all.
The Kings would just trade Arvidsson for futures and sign Soucy themselves.

In what sense is Jonathan Quick a cap dump? We have over $2 million in cap space right now with all 23 roster players signed and Quick on the tab. And next year we have Dustin Brown's $5.875 million, Alex Edler's $3.5 million, Olli Maata's $3.333 million, and Jeff Carter's $2.6 million coming off the books, with no one significant to re-sign.
You should really learn more about other teams before making such pronouncements as "Next year they have serious cap problems."

Do you think you can get a good defenseman and a 2nd to take on Quick's contract which is in no way an issue for the Kings? If the Kings wanted to trade him they could retain salary and get something back for him, for he can be serviceable to a contending team.

What problems? they have 30 mil cap space next year. Add to that all the rookies are going to come in.

Quick will retire a King, I can’t see them trading him away unless they’re desperate for cap space.
I think the Oilers just ride out the last year of Koskinen. They didn’t make room for a future starting goalie like Ullmark via free agency, so with fewer options out there they aren’t going to give up a 1st plus to get an older rental, even though I fully support more draft picks for Detroit

It's like paying the other team's top players to not score. How much would you pay to limit Matthews to 1 goal in a playoff series? Kyle Connor? Vegas' entire top line? How about all of those in one year, in succession?

Maybe last season was a fluke and he'll bounce back. Otherwise, this will be an expensive contract.

I think this trade is bad for the hawks for a couple reasons.
1. The hawks are taking on a 7AAV cap hit of a 36yr old goalie for nothing in a flat cap world. (Yes, he won the Vezina, but Chicago’s D still sucks)
2. They are now over the cap and probably can’t add in FA tomorrow.
3. They likely have trouble signing/trading their UFA’s and RFA’s.
4. MAF might retire anyways so…

If Pittsburgh really wanted to dump Zucker and LA wanted him for some reason, the Kings could just get him directly from PIttsburgh without having to give up Kempe.

Yes, we would trade the eighth overall pick in this year's draft for the RFA rights to Sam Reinhart and the 25th overall selection. The rest of that trade is a bad joke.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>It would be a lot easier to cheer for them if they didn’t have the worst ownership in the league.</div></div>
At the same time you're looking at today's Coyotes through the lens of every mistake the previous ownership/management made.
Last year's draft shenanigans are about the only indictment on the current ownership. Pretty questionable things in regards to the draft but if the long-term goal is Houston, this is the right kind of move to make for the Coyotes.
