JETS FANS LOOK AWAY The biggest Canadian team trade since Gretsky
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jimmyjets</b></div><div>Really, why?
As a Jets fan I have a hard time justifying Scheifele for Eichel straight up when you consider their production and contracts.
Scheif is older but he's gone point per game or better for the last 4 years and currently has 28 points in 21 games this year. He's on a $6.1M cap hit for 4 years still. He's on one of the best value contracts in the entire NHL.
Eichel is younger and under team control for longer but at an extra $4M per year caphit. He's also hovered around a point per game over the last 4 years and has 14 points in 17 games this year. So your offensive production is the same but you pay way more for it? Eichel hasn't been able to create a winning culture there.
Then we also toss in our top pair LD who is under contract long term and is projected to be a dman on Team Canada's Olympic team next year.
This Jets fan just doesn't see the appeal in this trade at all. We add a slightly better player under a way worse contract at 1C, then we downgrade on D from JMo to McCabe. Give up a former 1st round pick that is just now NHL ready as well and move up a round in the draft. Trading away 2 of our assistant captains in one trade is just too much.</div></div>
Schiefele has been far from good defensively for a few years, and Morrissey desperately needs a better partner to reach what he was. He can still be fine, but he's more likely to get than in Buffalo with Miller or Dahlin (where their playstyles match up better with Morrissey than Beaulieu and Poolman) while McCabe has shown prior he can drag what are essentially carcasses out on the ice to above-board xG rates.
Also, the trade in total *does* actually save the Jets about a few 100k in cap.

Buffalo also wouldn't be trying to re-sign Hall if they were rebuilding, but they are.

I don't foresee you getting much more than a 1st and a B prospect for Ekholm. Don't get me wrong, Ekholm is great, but' he's not a #1 guy. The Jets don't really need a #1 guy if they have a forward core that has probably the 2nd best center in the league below 25 and another center below 25 who isn't much further behind.

Don't get the second Devils trade, not sure if Smith ever amounts to anything but why trade him for some other no name prospect?</div></div>
That trade was just to add in the comments, not an actual trade

Montreal Tear Down V2.5
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>Ristolainen? Moulson's contract does not effect Buffalo. That SJS pick could be a first, its conditional. Right now Olofsson is the best LWer the Sabres have. I think they'd rather address their 2 RHD elsewhere (depending on where Dahlin slots)</div></div>
Ristolainen has not and will never be an effective defenseman except on the power play. This is a known fact, with many, many articles, stats, and people who can verify this. They can sign players to play LW (JVR, etc.), and taking on Moulsons contract aides them in this. And just because OIofsson is the best LW prospect *you* guys have, does not mean that he's untouchable. Montreal's best RHD prospect is Noah Juulsen- do you think they wouldn't move him if it meant getting a young, cost controlled player in a position of need?

Montreal @ Draft Idea

I went after Aho because A: he's actually really good and B: MTL needs a left side defenseman more than right.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>Why would Buffalo want anything to do with that trade</div></div>
Jeff Petry is a high end defenseman who struggled because the team in front of him was ****, you guys have like 2 good defenseman and with Dahlin, Pilut, and Petry you end up with a actually really good forward core. You also lose Moulsons contract, don't give up a 1st, and don't lose close to your best prospect.
