2019-2020
2 things that are hurting the Leafs:
1. Skinner signing
2. Cap being not as high as we all thought it would.

Interesting options
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>johnston3504</b></div><div>only things i would change is zaitsev you wont have to retain on, there are plenty of teams interested. Hainsey is reported to be interested in coming back between 1-2 mill so you could save abit there and i think liljegren will get a shot before sandin just because he is right handed on the right side and cale rosen would be better than mccabe hes cheaper too. but all looks good</div></div>
I like Rosen but I think McCabe is an upgrade, hes more reliable and overall just very consistent doesnt make dangerous plays which is something the leafs need

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RoyalBlueSabres</b></div><div>Trades seem fair, but no way marner signs for anything less than 10 probably closer to 11</div></div>
most analytics folks have his contract around $9.7 MM. Let's wait and see before we start tossing out what Dreger / Ferris want as absolutes.

What do YOU want to see from the Leafs THREAD
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>And few levels lower quality player.. not good.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>johnston3504</b></div><div>to be honest i would keep kappy over nylander lower cost and a more physical player.</div></div>
I know everyone thinks Nylnaders 6.9 cap is high, which I agree. I think Nylander is more of a 6-6.5 Million player. That being said, Nylander skills much outweighs Kaps. I also think Nylnader is going to have a killer year this year beside Matthews. He showed at the World Cup why hes part of the Leafs future.

2019-2020 leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>johnston3504</b></div><div>you can retain salary from multiple teams. here is an example:
Jan 15, 2014: Dubnyk was traded from Edmonton to Nashville.
Edmonton retained 50% of his salary, or $1.75M of the $3.5M total.
March 5, 2014: Dubnyk was traded from Nashville to Montreal.
Nashville retained 25% of his salary (which applies to the original total). Therefore, the Predators retained $0.875M.
March 5, 2014: Dubnyk was immediately demoted to Montreal’s AHL affiliate in Hamilton.
After the demotion, he didn’t count against Montreal’s cap but he did still count against Edmonton’s ($1.75M) and Nashville’s ($0.875M).
waiving the nmc would be the hard part but if they threaten him with a buyout he wont get all his money since it is not heavy on the signing bonus mostly contract. he would only get $1,416,667, out of his 6.5 million actual salary.</div></div>
Yes, sorry the rule is only two teams may retain on a single contract, so this would still be valid. Thanks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>johnston3504</b></div><div>thats a hard no to the first deal. 3 prospects and an average dman for a number 1 center on probably the best deal in the nhl.</div></div>
im saying from a NYI perspective genius
