<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>honestly I feel like you're doing the Oilers a huge favor there. You're taking on $8.25M next season and two more years of $5M and you're getting a likely mid-20s pick next year plus the equivalent of a mid-5th rounder (moving up from mid-4th to mid-3rd next year) - I feel like you could've taken a pound of flesh and settled for a quarter pounder instead, ya know?</div></div>
I guess that's fair. Essentially the trade is Ceci and a 3rd for a 4th, and then Campbell and a 1st for nothing. I felt like both of those by themselves were fair deals, or at least similar to what other people were posting, but together I guess it may not look like enough.

I sort of agree with you, but after the return Grier got for Kahkonen at the deadline from a desperate NJ team, I'm skeptical of getting a solid return for the goaltending. Can be a 3rd if OTT sneaks into the playoffs.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sharcuda22</b></div><div>I feel like there is no way celebrini doesnt come out. Grier has been pushing for smitty to come out and there is a reason Macklin won the hobey.</div></div>
You're probably right, and I'm certainly rooting for that too because woof some of the games this year were a mess. Small part of me doesn't mind waiting a year and getting some of the expiring contracts/guys not a part of the future off the books.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Who_is_Jimmy_stu</b></div><div>would you take Anton Forsberg back in the Blackwood deal.
To OTT: Blackwood
To SJS: Forsberg, 2025 3rd round pick
???</div></div>
I guess I wouldn't be opposed, Campbell could in theory be stashed down with the Barracuda. I still would want a guy like Romanov to be the first goalie up from the AHL.

Oh I gotcha, I misread your reply, use that pick to move up in R1, fair enough. If they do that then SJ will have to look elsewhere, that's fine.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Absolutely not. The Blues will hopefully be using that pick to trade up.</div></div>
Probably not, trade ups are not that common, I was just interested in recouping a 5th and that seemed like a harmless way to go about it. There was a very similar trade in last years draft and STL having multiple 2nds & multiple 3rds was the reason for the pair.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vols94</b></div><div>Less UFA unless they are a RD PP guy. More trades like the Smith trade. We should be able to get 2 wingers and a C on short deals as cap dumps</div></div>
I don't mind giving Addison a full offseason with the coaching staff to see how much he can improve on the PP. I was looking for a lot more moves like the Smith one but there aren't a ton of options. Lehkonen and Burakovsky I think could've been good but they have way too much term left.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>SJS probably getting PIT 1st this year. My guess is the 11th or 12th pick.
If the return on Smith is a 5th the penguins will keep him.</div></div>
I saw a bunch of posts that had him going for a 3rd but with 50% retained, No benefit for SJ to have teams retain salary for them, they're going to have a lot of cap flexibility. I do somewhat agree with you though, if PIT's cap situation was tighter like Florida with Duclair a year ago I think the move makes more sense. It still wouldn't surprise me as it stands now.

I didn't know how much Arvidsson would make coming off the injury, but I figured it would be 1 year because of the injury. The Sharks have 20$ million in cap space, can make it $4-6 mil doesn't matter to me.
I figure Rutta will get moved at the deadline next year as long as he isn't totally horrible, but with Burroughs and Benning both on 2 year deals I'd rather let them ride it out in 2025 and have Emberson get those reps if one of them goes down. Then I agree veterans for 2026.

Fair enough, of all the teams that seem to be in need of a goalie, Philadelphia seemed to be the only one that had a goalie that they would send back to SJ. The cupboard is pretty bare for the Sharks with Blackwood on IR and Kahkonen gone

I agree with you there, I put that in the little description thing at the top. Chicago might be an option but I don't know exactly how that would go down.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Waffelz</b></div><div>That deal looks pretty rough for the Sharks. Basically Karlsson for a 1st, 2 cap dumps, and 2 mediocre prospects.</div></div>
One of those cap dumps is certainly going to be in any trade, and I don't really see Petry and Karlsson being on PIT together. From what I've read, Poulin is a decent prospect albeit a little slower developing than Pittsburgh probably hoped; Murashov dominated in the Russian Jr. League this past season at only 19 years old, even got a KHL call up.

He’s put up some solid stats his first few years in the league, but had a down year this last year. Sure he didn’t play great but I think that was in part due to the team iced in front of him. He can still be a great backup, and I think he could potentially become a solid 1B goalie. Vancouver just don’t the place for him due to their cap situation as well as the fact that we have Demko as our starter plus Martin/Silovs as backups.</div></div>
Ah, didn't see Spencer Martin being there, forgot to check the minors. I probably didn't take the cap into as much consideration as I should have; just saw Delia as a FA. Chicago might end up being the best spot.

That's fair. Finding a trade partner for EK was/is tough but feel like it's best for the organization to sell him now while his value is at its absolute highest. I have no idea who Karlsson would waive his NTC for but I feel like Seattle could be on the short list after this postseason.

I sort of struggled finding a home for him after the season he had. Narrowed it down to STL, WPG, VAN, DET, CHI. Can't really trust him to be a starter but at 2.75 mil, a team has to really like him as a backup or some split role, he's sort of in limbo.

I thought about keeping all 3 and having one of them down with the Barracuda but I wanted Chrona/Mann/whoever to get as much playing time as possible. We can say that Kahkonen lost the battle to two new guys and this was the move as a result
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>This to me is best case scenario for the offseason!

I read that Smith goes 3 to CBJ at the moment, and I'd be very happy with either Michkov or Carlsson, but I read that Michkov has a higher ceiling so I went that route, even if he doesn't come over right away. Obviously if the KHL won't let him leave, that would be an issue.

From what I've read, there's no shot NJ are trading Hughes or Nemec, wouldn't expect them to. The 1st (figured '24 would be cheaper) and Holtz have to be included to get SJ to listen. If NJ had their '23 3rd I would've included that instead of Mukh, sort of agree with you there. I'd prefer Daws over Brennan, but the Sharks have some major goaltending issues with the NHL club as well as the lower levels, which is why I included Schmid (I also understand why keeping him is preferred).
I don't know what the return will look like but I like the Devils prospects more than the other speculative partners (CAR, TOR, VGK)

No, you aren't getting pacioretty for an NHL bum, an average at best prospect, and a couple of bad picks. There are other teams in the league that will outbid that.
Think more like solid young roster player (not Karlsson, someone actually good), a good prospect, and a first.</div></div>
If he starts this season like those previous 6, than you're right and my trade isn't nearly enough. Think that trade would make more sense towards the deadline depending on how he plays. Sharks don't have a ton of prospects you are probably interested in, I don't think SJ would trade Josh Norris or Ryan Merkley for a rental. If they included a first it would probably be conditional in 2020.

The players make sense, was wrestling with the picks. Walk year coming off his worst career season with effort questioned at times, everyone knows the Canadiens want to move him which IMO hurts his value. Was comparing the return to Evander Kane, who was better than Max last season and got back an AHL center and a conditional 1st. This return I think is better.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>Love getting scraps for Patches :)</div></div>
Gambrell is a 21 year old Center who put up a Point per Game at UDenver during 3 seasons. Was a 2nd round pick. Karlsson kills the penalty, can win an occasional faceoff. He's in more to make the money make sense but he's a useful 4th liner. If he plays like he did last season his value gets lower. Nothing stopping Montreal from resigning him after this trade as well.
