Now we trade for Karlsson
How did Marleau end up on LTIR? Not sure that's a valid cap strategy?

Leafs 2019
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PanarinBread72</b></div><div>Not terrible, however there a two main issues. First off you left yourself with too little cap space which can lead to serious issues during the season. Secondly, Liljegren will most definitely be in the lineup in 2019-20, maybe even in 2018-19. Idk who that Ozhiganov guy is but I'm sure Liljegren is better</div></div>
I had Liljegren in but moved him out to sign another dman. Lilly I believe will be expempt from waivers still so he can spend a little time in the AHL while we test drive some dmen. I would expect him up after Christmas.
The cap space is super tight and we'd be in alot of trouble. Definitely would need to be addressed.

Future Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>In the past hour, I posted roster of 2018/19 and 2019/20. Not as scary as it seems. Johnson is up for his first RFA contract this summer. After just a handful of NHL games, he doesn't have much leverage IMO. Believe I had him for 1.2m per on a two year deal. Kapanen next year. 1.8m a year for two years. Take a look. If the worst case scenario is that you have too many good players making too much money hardly a bad scenario. Make a trade for young cheaper assets.</div></div>
I saw that - much better layout on forwards. I do worry about that defense though. Lot of young inexperienced players but is doable if they step up this year.

Future Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mikearky</b></div><div>You understand that you do not even have a complete team? The Tavares signing has really put the Leafs in cap hall for several years. They will need to shed Nylander or Marner's contract just to get a 20 player team to ice on a daily basis with extra players. They needed defense and go for a forward. Even if you shed Nylander it gives you only 6.5 million to get 5 players. And n ok n of them will improve the defense. This is not 1985 when teams tried to out score the other team. GOOD luck this team will not make the cup final.</div></div>
I only filled in what are some very likely possibilities to see where they stand.
They are certainly tight and moves will have to be mad but it is not impossible. Other teams have been in worse scenarios and come out of it.

It was not as promising as I had hoped. Marleau and Brown are slotted on the 4th to see if I can fill the top 9. We can fill the top 9, so Brown adn Marleau could be dealt to free up $8.3M

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I doubt if Marner gets 9m coming off his ELC. Leafs can't afford Gardiner or even want to sign him. Even Johnson coming of his ELC and having a handful games probably isn't getting 2.5, and maybe not Kappy either.
MIKEARKY. Hardly "cap hell" if you too many good players. If necessary a player like Nylander can be trade for good value. Cap Hell is when a team has too many non performers to their contracts, retained salaries, and buyouts. The Leafs have little money tied up in those.
The Red Wing roster is good example of cap hell. Players paid too much on long term contracts that can't be moved.</div></div>
Trying to plot out worst cases. If players like Kapanen or Johnsson have good seasons, then they will likely get Connor Brown money. Could likely sign those players for less but as they say "Plan for the worst and hope for the best"
