<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SMH</b></div><div>The difference is that kakko has already played 300 regular season games and another 44 playoff games, yes it toke Nichushkin years to become the player he is but he also didn't play his 300th NHL game until he was around 25, usually you know what you have in a player/prospects/young after they play 300 NHL games, and for kakko it looks like this is what he is...</div></div>

Ok so let’s say last summer we sent him to Europe for 3 years… we would all be assuming he’s a bust for the next 3 years anyway. “Couldn’t do North American hockey” would be the thread. All the fans would just be saying this about him, Kravs was literally the guy who is a middle 6 in Europe and can’t do NA hockey but the fans pumped him up non stop till he was traded for nothing. The fact that he remains in the NHL at this point over a guy like Nichushkin who was on the same pace is because he’s better than Nichushkin was at that point. While people seem to be obsessed with youth, players aren’t actually at their best till they are 30ish. This is why you need patience. Matthews is 26 and just played his best season of hockey(not points specifically). Actual 2 way hockey and scored a career high 69 goals. And he’s still getting better all around. If you have concerns about Kakko then go through a long list of guys who didn’t pop till they were 30 and see how it was with their 2nd or 3rd team even. Kakko was scouted as a good player not generational talent. He was an easy pick because of his frame and skill that he could handle NA hockey, he has, just not to your expectations of a 2OA pick. Doesn’t mean this is all he will be. But the fact that he wasn’t sent overseas like nichushkin was should really be a positive factor not a negative factor with how you are spinning it.
