<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div><i>Think you misjudged the value of Demers, he'll get more. Same maybe with Jagr, to me he stays in Florida. Two rookie Dmen? Seems like a gamble. Maybe that Voracek contract doesn't look so good.
3 players making 29m, or 3 players making 1/3 of the cap. Long term disaster.
Think Stars would rather have Demers (at your 2 m) that taking on Streit at 5m.</i></div></div>

Like I said, they could just keep schultz and not sign Demers. Still comes out to the same math. To get stamkos you have to give up something, and seeing how everyone raves about Provorov I think he makes the team since another year in junior isn't going to do much for him and he can't go the AHL for seasoning which is what Morin is getting right now. They are the most likely to make the team, Sanheim is old enough to go the AHL for seasoning so he is the odd man out at the moment.

Also long term disaster? possibly but we would be in the same situation as chicago. hopefully with at least one cup too. Hextall clearly believes in developing players for this reason. They are cheap and cap friendly. Fortunately we got simmonds for the next 3 years at less than $4 mil per which is a fucking steal. Jagr is a one year signing Possibly two, if you look at the long term outlook his deal is awesome. In three years you'll have Simmonds, Jagr, Schenn if he doesn't produce, and Read off your cap which is a savings of $14.6 mil which is enough room to sign two of your stud defenseman if they really become studs like Gostisbehere is.

The long term outlook says the flyers will have 6 players signed at 40 million (Giroux, Stamkos, Voracek, Couturier, (Final year for simmonds), and unfortunately MacDonald). Does that remind you of a team that won three cups in 5 years. (Toews, Kane, Hossa, Keith, Seabrook). You need a strong core, which isn't cheap. After those 6 players, one of which (macdonald) might be traded or retire at that point, leaves almost $35 million in cap space for the other 16 roster spots which I agree isn't a lot but if 4 or 5 are ELC than you have almost $30 million for 11 spots which is manageable.

These moves will make us legit contenders for the next 5 years and then the core gets old and needs to be replaces. By then Giroux will be 32 with three years left. He could possibly be traded. The core would have to be built around Couturier Stamkos and the yound Defenseman we have. But that's getting way head of myself. That is to be determined.
