Washington Capitals signed Tom Wilson (7 Years / $6,500,000 AAV)
This is the kind of contract that reward a player for what <em>has been</em>, and is not about paying for <em>future</em> performance on the ice
It's simply rewarding a player, born and raised with the team, that is the soul of its team
Not rational

Not going to be worthwhile in the end. Man just can't stay healthy, and his grindy playstyle will just further wear him out.</div></div>
The comparison with Gallagher is also good because they both are the soul of their team. Born and raised with their team.

Pretty much the midpoint, as usual

AVS FANS, YOUR THOUGHTS
You can't assume Drouin will be able to keep a spot in a top6. Plenty of tough years in MTL plus injury prone. And if he's not in an offensive role, he's out of your line up.
That said, Tatar is a 5v5 specialist (if that exists). He can play up or down in the line up like he did in NJD. He'll most likely fade away in the playoffs tho.
Add Motte on the 4th line. He's a discount version of Lehkonen

So with the Tarasenko signing, we're all inspecting OTT roster.
It's hilarious to see Hamonic with a NMC
OTT could have considered sending him down now that they're close to the cap

Good read
I love the conclusion on advanced stats vs. eye test:
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quote:</div>Analytics are useful for telling you <em>what </em>results are happening when a player is on the ice...
The eye test — and other contextual and qualitative factors — tell you <em>why</em> those results happened</div>

Murray 2 months ago returned to the roster as an emergency goalie : “Feeling great. Happy to be back.”
Yet today he'd be eligible for LTIR for all 23-24 season
2 potential problems with TOR :
either they put a LTIR bound player on their roster, neglecting a player's health
or
cap circumvention

Good addition. Tatar is a 5v5 specialist but GMs tend to ignore the fact that those players<em> exist</em>.
He's also the type of player that gets you in playoffs, what would be BUF goal. In playoffs, he'll fade away but anyway BUF would not care at this point.

Lineup and point prediction
Total : 282 GF
Last year, only 8 teams scored more than 282 goals.
Is MTL the 9th best offense in the league? I dont think so
Maybe RPH scores less and Harris doesn't breakout offensively. That would put MTL at best as an average offensive team
Good guess nonetheless

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tintin</b></div><div>I'm a big fan of the guy and if it weren't for some very untimely injuries in the 21-22 he would've been in a very good position to carve a full-time role out for himself on this Devils team (I mean the Devils iced frickin Mason Geertsen for 25 games that season).
A lot of things can happen in pre-season camp but between the Devils adding Nosek and Tierney in free agency combined with Holtz and Foote looking very likely to be mainstays on the roster odds are that Tyce does get waived. I'd give him about a 50-50 chance to clear waivers and I really hope he does remain in the organization for this season.</div></div>
I was inspecting team rosters to look for some potential waiver claims. Because there's still some unsigned players, it's not the time to drop some names but Tyce Thompson might already be on a potential waiver claim list.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>So the delay is Karlsson deciding which team? Or are the four teams (CAR, PIT, SEA, TOR) busy trying to convince their NTC players to waive to San Jose?</div></div>
my understanding is that he wants to leave SJ, to anywhere really. So it's most likely players from one of the four teams that can delay or deny the trade (like Krug did). Players like Petry with a 16 teams no-trade clause might not want to leave to California (it was pointed when Karlsson was rumoured to PIT at the draft)
