<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>Buffalo is happy with the Sabres right now, this year is unexpected. We are more than one player away from competing with Toronto or Tampa in a 7 game series so we arent selling the farm for rentals. We are playing with house money and enjoying the ride. With multiple 1sts coming up we can add around eichel, skinner, reinhart, dahlin and make a meaningful run. We are not ruining that for 20 games of kevin hayes.</div></div>

Nothing against the Sabres, but this year is unexpected because of how bad they've been for SO long. It's very possible they have no interest in Hayes as a rental, sure. It's also possible they'd be interested in acquiring a pending UFA player, and they try and convince them to sign long-term with the core that they have. Picks only go so far - look how long you've been waiting for a Sabres playoff run. I guess you can wait another year at this point.

Agreed that it's slightly ridiculous to say that a team has no interest in Hayes when he is almost a PPG player and can play the wing. Also agreed that Olofsson has been lighting it up and could be viewed as untouchable. Maybe this isn't the year Buffalo tries to make a run - would be smart not to with TBL and TOR playing the way they're playing. But, soon enough, they'll need to part with draft picks/young players to get some veteran (talented) experience for a playoff run.

This was merely a mock trade. Seems like both sides (fans) don't want to part with their players/picks - isn't that better than a completely lopsided offer?
