Well I always said that as well but the window to win with these guys is closing fast. Minton couldn’t be an impact player for a couple of years , get help now

Slightly Realistic
First off teams get around no trade clauses all the time, if any team wants a player gone it generally happens one way or another. Secondly my trade proposal could include any team “ it’s a leaf post” I’m trying to show what needs to be done to make the leafs cap compliant. It’s no disrespect to Arizona it’s just they are a team with cap room ,pick Anaheim or Nashville it’s just a dump for leaf cap purposes.

No argument, it’s for cap room so we can have a roster of over the minimum of 20 player

Yes on muzzins I just put him there to take him off the cap and roster. I'm thinking a trade with a sweetener or retension, but yes he's still going to play and Campbell a bit high but if they want to keep him it'll be around tbere

Sandin will take muzzins spot in top 4 and free up cap, Bruins need left d man and debrusk wants out.Mrazek gives cap relief and buffalo can use him if he stays healthy.Lybushkin is a heavy tough playoff kind of guy better than holl

Barabanov and lethanen have to play as there on 1 year contracts to see if there possible nhlers. Sandin and Robertson can play on marlies and Chl respectfully for another year.
Although over the cap it's slight and leafs will demote and call up players that do not need to clear waivers to make cap work. Also this is why there's no ltr.so you can acrue cap space on off days when players are sent down on paper only

I don't think we have 5 million to spend on goaltenders and if we did we could probably just sign Markstrom and not give anything up.</div></div>
If not so someone looking to change up goalie he only has one year left on contract may catch lightning in a bottle contract year and all marksrom will cost much more if he even moves

Not a flashy D but rugged enough and try another goalie as a change may be good. Pitt could use flashy winger and they take back plenty of players they traded before

Timashev isn't enough cap space .They need to clear 722,000 he makes 674,000 . That's the problem I'm talking about ,to keep Engvall either moore or someone making more must go as soon as johnsson is cleared to play

What does dubai do to get under the 722,000 cap overage if top 9 are set along with d and goal ,that leaves the bottom 5 and only Engvall is exempt from being claimed but is playing to good to be sent down I think

Yes bring up sandin after jr tournament and you still have room on the cap to grab someone like Pitt did a few years ago with hainsey or Washington with kempney. It's not that Cecil is that bad but 3rd pair d don't make 4.5 mil Use the money to keep our forwards add a backup and a dept d man behind sandin that could now be called up with the new cap room after world Jr's if Cecil is gone even if we have to sweeten the trade
Its cap management more than dumping on Cecil we need cap room

Yes him or kapanen but Cecil would be better big cap hit and can get a 3rd pair d for cheaper and then maybe a back up Engvall deserves to stay he put his time in too

Leafs player crunch
If all are healthy ,this is what the lineup would look like. So how do we get under the 722,000 that were over the cap. We can't send timashev, Gauthier,or Spezza out to get below the cap as they alone don't make enough.
We would have to send 2 ofbthem out but that would leave a bare 20 man roster. Engvall would get us under because he makes 925,000 ( but deserves to stay) moore could be moved 775,000 to get under cap and then we could keep 2 players for a 21 man roster.
Or let's ship off ce I 4500,000contact for a cheaper dman and cap space for maybe a goalie upgrade Is there any other way to get under cap and not go to only 20 players

I'm not saying to send Spezza to minors for the reason given plus it's not enough cap space even if they did. If you look at my projected healthy line up they need to shed over 730,000 to fit in with 21 guys ,Spezza and the others I mentioned are not enough if only one player moves and Engvall stays As for marner cap relief there was none (only while injured) you can't bank cap relief if the team has a player on ltr.Also. if no ltr. Also then every dollar not up to the cap can be calculated and used at trade deadline to add a player but not applicable when a team has players on ltr

If only we could trade Cecil and use the money to keep the forwards we have up then try and find a 2,000,000 or so gem like we did with hainsey or Washington did with kempney a few years ago. Also we could then add what's left maybe around1,500,000 plus 700,000 we pay Hutchinson 2,200,000 and use it to pick up a quality backup
(Craig Anderson at half cap retained) would be nice as he's a free agent at year end and ottawa would get an asset from toronto

This is what a healthy roster would look like. But Engvall makes too much to stay up (27000),putting Gauthier, timashev or Spezza to minors doesn't give enough cap relief. So if a trade doesn't happen then they'd have to go with only 20 player roster to keep Engvall up .
Bad enough with 21 but 20 is cutting it to thin.Cant demote another defenceman or a player making 700000 or less so Engvall or moore would have to go down,if only one of the big boys took just 50 grand less on there contracts
