The Allen trade is separate from signing Reinhart. I realize Reinhart is a RFA. The compensation for him is a 1st and a 3rd which I guess would have to be from 2019 so the OTT trade would then have to be the 2021 1st. But the condition on the Allen trade could possibly bring back Buffalo's 1st and 3rd so it could end up as a wash, outside of where the picks would land and who was drafted and if those players actually made an impact for each club.

The Allen trade is this. BUF gets Allen for the 2019 first round. The next part is just something out of the box and thought up at the time. I will redo it and change it up a bit here. If BUF misses the playoffs they keep the 2019 1st and instead of STL getting the 2019 1st, BUF gives the 2020 1st and 3rd. So it's not two 1st round picks. The pick(s) is contingent on how the team performs with Allen in net. If BUF sucks and doesn't make the playoffs they keep the pick and in return of sucking with Allen in net and keeping their 1st, we get compensated by getting 2 picks instead (1st and 3rd). If BUF makes the playoffs then it's just a straight up trade for the 1st.

Odin - Edmundson made $1,050,000 last year and was hurt. $2.5M seems like a reasonable pay increase to keep him for 4 years. That's a 150% pay increase. With what I did, I still have $4.5M in cap space so giving Carlson another $1M is fine or even $1.5M is fine and I still have cap space left over. So who cares about the price cause I have the cap space for it. :)

It's all wishful thinking and most likely none of this will happen. But if I was Army (Blues's GM) I would consider trading Allen to Buffalo. They are the only team with no signed goalie who's proven or a star. Yes, they have Lehner but look at what he's done over Allen and I think you have to say Allen is the better of the two. At least Allen has played in the playoffs and won a series. I don't think Lehner can say that. And the out of the box thinking on the draft picks makes a bit more sense.....hopefully.
