Provorov for the pair of seconds would be fine with me, honestly. The rest of the trade is noise.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>No, that isn't, those prospects are nothing special compared to guys in Anaheim system already, we have a flush system with tons of players with that potential, not an empty well like Pittsburgh, quantity trades have zero interest to us, and that's all Pitt has, and not much of it either.
To claim there's anything in Pitts system that you wouldn't trade 1 for 1 with Zegras because that piece is special is just fantasy land on your part bud. I am actually embarrassed for you.</div></div>
I mean, Yager is a top 30 prospect having a fantastic WHL playoffs with Moose Jaw right now. Anaheim should absolutely be interested in him as a <em>part</em> of a Zegras trade. But you’re right that there isn’t anything else on their pool of interest to a team like Anaheim.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fil97</b></div><div>talking like zegras is some star lol
if you don't know the penguins prospects it's ok don't be mad about it.</div></div>
lol what? Zegras is a star. One that Pittsburgh would be very lucky to acquire. And it would absolutely cost Yager plus to get him. I know Anaheim games are on past our eastern time zone bedtimes and he missed most of this season to injury, but he is absolutely a star.

Just what Columbus needs. Another overpaid winger who needs a strong supporting cast to do anything.

Off season
Marchenko's a huge fan favorite already and that would be a hard sell to an already discontent Columbus fanbase, but the new GM might have to make hard decisions, and Rossi is a very good target for the Jackets. I would personally hate it, but it might be a good thing for the team. Some of the glut of wingers do have to go.

He just needs to be on a good team he believes in, in a place he wants to be, surrounded by exactly the right teammates. Otherwise, how could you expect him to care about hockey? Poor boy's only spent time in terrible places in his whole hockey career.

Also why would the Habs do this? Don’t you need to guarantee the best possible forward you can get?

I do think he's an ideal target for the Leafs, though, to pair with Rielly. Provided you can find the cap space.

Pesce's about to be a free agent. Carolina can't afford to keep him and all their other parts, and I doubt he is a priority to re-sign compared to some of the others. That's a huge overpay for his signing rights, especially with the way his offense cratered this year.
Ottawa and Columbus decline, of course.

If Calgary's not interested, Columbus is certainly interested in Cirelli. How about a fully retained Provorov for him straight up, if you need a 2LD?

I get that it’s just a dump-to-anywhere, but Columbus declines this. They have plenty of in-house bottom six forwards to rotate through. No need to spend a pick for someone else’s.

Potential Rossi Trades

Columbus is pretty small, too. Among prospects, Dumais, Brindley, and Pinelli are all 5'9", and on the NHL roster Justin Danforth is even shorter. Fix-Wolansky is 5'5", though he's a tweener. On the blue line, Boqvist is a very small listed 5'11", and top prospect Denton Mateychuk is under six feet as well (though built like a tank). KJ is 6'1" but he only weighs about 165. And of course then there's famously small Johnny Gaudreau, although I've never seen a player as good at evasion on the ice as he is. Really, the only truly big guys in the system are Voronkov, Jiricek, Gudbranson, and Laine (there is a 6'8" Russian prospect, but his odds of coming over are very low). Everyone else is under 6'2" or a goalie. The org as a whole is so small there's a lot of discontent over the coming draft, and a lot of fans are preferencing Lindstrom or Silayev just because they're big boys.

Had an excellent rookie year under Brad Larsen, 40 points with no PP time. But it was clear Pascal Vincent didn't like him this year. He came in with no summer bulk as well. He floated and seemed confused in Vincent's system, and was eventually sent to Cleveland for a while. Did very well in Cleveland, came back up, and continued to be treated as an afterthought by Vincent. Then got hurt on a faceoff, tore his labrum, and had season-ending surgery. Not a banner year for anyone in those circumstances.

Potential Rossi Trades
Probably a year too early in Columbus's rebuild cycle to think about moving out pieces in house for other ones. I'd love to get Rossi because that solves the 2C problem straightaway. But at the cost of Jiricek? The org's only RHD prospect with top 4 upside? Not yet. I'm not saying hard no, but I'm definitely saying not this summer or coming season. Talk again 2025.
