Islanders fans don’t know what young players even are. Lou has made sure they never see them.

If The Leafs Lose to Boston
Hmm. Useful bottom pair defenseman who serves an important leadership role on a young team plus reataining four million dollars for a totally useless bottom six forward who's rarely healthy? Easy pass for Columbus.

Marner Again
I fail to see why Columbus would want either a rental or the opportunity to pay a winger 13+ million dollars.

Marner finally got a point last night! Why are you so desperate to move him?
He says no, of course. So does Columbus, but it’s not like we matter here.

Buying out Skinner and trading Savoie and Power
That’s exactly what Columbus would be looking for in a Jenner/Jiricek trade. Not sure Texier is necessary, though. Would he even make the Sabres lineup?

Maybe a Prospect, 3rd rd pick conditional 2nd if he plays benchmark number of games.
Kuzy went for just a 3rd out of the program, he was consistently healthier however.</div></div>

And that's why Laine is unlikely to move this summer. Columbus can afford to wait to see if he rebounds. There's absolutely no pressure to sell him for pennies on the dollar. So to convince the org to trade him would require an offer commesurate with the top-line winger he can be, otherwise they'll just wait. This offer is that, so Columbus would accept. But obviously Buffalo would never offer it, so that's moot. Sounds like OP is just looking to see what that would mean for Buffalo, and Sabres fans just want to be mad (and that I don't blame y'all for one bit).

Boqvuist could be had for a mid round pick. Columbus doesn't have the roster space or cap space for Hronek and his next deal since they already committed to Severson and have a ton of their own RFA's to re-sign (and a disgruntled top prospect at that position who needs a roster spot next season). Hronek might be a better fit for the Ducks, who desperately need a top-4 RHD and have the cap space.

2019-2020? You mean the season that only had 68 games? A whole lot of guys only played like 60 games that year. The argument against the Sabres making this deal is plenty strong without using misleading numbers.

Very Promising Team with New Coach and GM
I still think they'll be able to move Elvis without retaining, but they certainly won't get anything in return. He managed to be an average goalie behind a ****-show this season, so there's a serviceable goalie in there and other GMs know this. But this return is silly. Elvis unretained for future considerations is perfectly sufficient for me.
Columbus declines the second trade. No reason to move Laine for peanuts now.

Laine Norris Swap
Norris is a bigger longterm risk than Laine, in my opinion. He's had three surgeries to the same shoulder now, all on his shooting side. Laine has had a series of one-off freak injuries, the most recent two coming as a result of dirty hits by opposing players, and mental health issues. For now, I'd rather hold onto Laine to see if he can rebound mentally than take on Norris in hopes that his career isn't simply over.

Someone's got a prospect fetish. That's all I can figure out based on this. Rebuilding teams don't put together mega packages to trade for stars, especially not ones that are about to hit free agency.

Montreal hasn't had a PPG player in a generation. There are a lot of fans who don't even know what that is.

Your explanation of the Columbus trade is straight up delusional, but that doesn’t matter because it never even gets to the phone call stage because Skinner and his agent laugh until they cry when Adam’s brings it to them.

You do not sign the top C on the FA market to play at 3C. You do not spend that much money on a 3C. You need a good work truck, not a sportscar. Of course you can never have too many centers, but first of all he gets more than that, and second of all, Buffalo has bigger problems than filling 3C. Better to spend 6.5 million on an actually viable veteran 2RD, for example.

Players I would move if a first round loss
Speaking as a fan of a team that has knocked the Leafs out of the playoffs once during this core's tenure (despite what narrative you all choose, the two teams had the same record going into the bubble and it wasn't a David-beats-Goliath matchup) AND who is constantly the subject of "dump Marner" trades we don't want: you're not moving him. He makes an insane amount of money, has a full NMC, and most importantly he has no incentive to waive it to move anywhere. He's a coddled baby who's lived and breathed Leafs his entire existence. There is nothing Tre can do to get him to waive those trade protections. It doesn't matter what you could get for him because he is not moving. Let him walk in FA, but Dubas guaranteed you'll never get anything meaningful for him when he gave him the NMC.

Columbus has no cap crunch. They'll just keep him if the only offer is a second and a player who'd be sixth on the depth chart at his position for the Jackets.

You'll probably have to add to get Ehlers, but I could see Winnipeg being interested in Pulock. They're almost certainly losing Dillon, will probably be looking to move Schmidt, and need someone between Morrissey and Stanley on the left.
Utah probably declines. That's just not a particularly interesting package.
Pelech declines the first trade. Full NTC. Ottawa probably also declines, but not as fast.

Sillinger Offersheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SpiderSpiderSpider28</b></div><div>Do Columbus fans still think Sillinger has high upside? I really liked him back at the 2021 draft a ton and would kill to give him a chance in Philly, but it sounded like his development may have been a bit rushed</div></div>
Oh, it was absolutely rushed. No "a bit" about it. He benefited his rookie year from being Voracek's personal center. Then the next year Jake suffered his final concussion in Finland and LTIRed (and just officially retired this week), and Sillinger proceeded to have a dreadful sophomore slump. This year, he rebounded and was arguably the team's best center by the end of the season, usable in all situations. He's probably still a 3C on a good team with an optimistic Cirelli comp, but defensively reliable centers who can play up or down the lineup as needed are definitely worth 5.5 mill. Columbus also is historically starved of centers, so I think while 5.5 for his first RFA deal feels high, the org would be pretty motivated to keep him.
Also I do not think the Flyers should be risking that first.
