That is absolutely to be determined. And if he doesn’t, that absolutely does not mean Columbus will just give him away. Poor attempt at a proposal all around.

Creative. If this were to happen I don’t think many Columbus fans would complain. But I think one of, if my both, Duchene/Stone would need to be re-signed.

I think a Werenski/Tarasenko swap would definitely warrant a discussion. Really depends on what happens with Panarin. Balancing salaries out would be tricky, though.

If he’s not traded by then, they’ll sign him. He’s an RFA and not eligible for abstraction. And there is plenty of cap space.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>so carolina gives up Skinner for a cap dump?
there is no way carolina accepts that trade. I like Milano as a player, and maybe just milano and maybe a 2nd round pick for Skinner I could see. But No way in hell are they taking on dubinski's contract.</div></div>
They would be right at the cap floor this season without taking Dubinsky's contract and welllll below it the following season. Dubinsky's contract would absolutely need to be moved in this case from Columbus' perspective, and Carolina's owner has been quoted on looking to add veteran leadership. It makes sense from both sides.

July 4 - Panarin = Scary good Roster!
The price has been rumored to be a top-6 forward, top prospect, and a 1st. We don’t want your goalie prospect or a futures-heavy haul.
It either starts with Simmonds+prospect+1st or Patrick+. No exceptions.

Yeah, I really only have two issues with the way this team is constructed.
1) we’ve effectively lost all of our NHL depth at defense. Harrington is what he is - a 7th D, nothing more. While I do think Kukan will hopefully have a breakout season (he looked real good last year in limited action and at the worlds), I’d feel much more comfortavle not having to rely on him, Harrington, and Carlsson if Z isn’t ready to go in October.
2) since we can’t upgrade our top-6 C, I think we desperately need to add another top-6 winger. I think Jenner could be used as trade bait to do so. Maybe let Milano see if he can be that, but I’d also feel more comfortable bringing in someone through a trade. Then let Milano and Foligno fight over the 3/4 LW spots. Then we’d have some real depth at wing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kosterjr</b></div><div>Counter with Bjugstad, McCann, Petrovic, and a 1st.</div></div>
Bjugstad is a good start, but we'd be pushing reeeeal hard for Huberdeau. We have no need for McCann or Petrovic so that doesn't move the needle.
I think a good hockey deal that works for both sides would be around Huberdeau+ for an extended Panarin

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Habby12</b></div><div>UFA rights??? That does not exist!</div></div>
Yes it does. In fact, Columbus gave up a 5th round pick to Montreal back in 2011 to acquire James Wisniewski’s UFA rights.

This makes Columbus a worse team now and in the future. We have no need for Spurgeon, and have more of a need for Savard’s physical presence. Josh Anderson isn’t a throw in.

If Panarin is traded...
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JarmoK</b></div><div>I think the Tampa trade is perfect. Not sure we want to give away a ton of high draft picks though. Don’t think the NYR trade makes sense and would rather not sign JVR to such a huge contract.</div></div>
Our left-wing depth is quite bare if we trade Panarin for a RW (Kucherov) - especially if Foligno is forced to play center again. It's absolutely necessary to add another top-6 LWer because do we really want Foligno or Milano playing on the top-line?
Over on HF, Rangers fans seem to be a fan of the proposed deal around Jenner/Hayes/Vesey. This would allow us to add another depth winger, and also a middle-6 C to push Dubinsky down to the fourth line.
The cap still works for next season when Kuch/Bob/Z all need new contracts. We could buy out or trade Dubinsky, trade Savard, etc. to make enough room. That shouldn't be a concern.
