have to agree, buch+a 2nd or 3rd would be more fair. No way does stl move their first and top scorer to move up 5-8 slots in the draft.

I’ve always been in favour of, unless we win the lottery for Celebrini, to go get as much value as possible with the pick. Then I’d also use the blues pick to get get a goalie or a dman.
For example if I could turn 9th overall+like a 2nd+3rd into buchnevich, Marcus Pettersson, and Ullmark. That would be ideal. Maybe some guys with more term but who knows. Lots of options

I wouldn't purely because of injury history, but if the scouting/drafting team felt confident that they could bring Jiricek up to Top 4 caliber then I trust them.
Yakemchuk just feels like a lesser version of Roman Josi and to me looks like a great top pairing D.
My ultimate dream would be to grab Dickinson this year and Hensler next year and then start truly pushing for the wild card after that.

I agree. I think trying to sign either Tkachuk would be much better than trading for them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tstrauss16</b></div><div>I’d rather give away Kyrou than Dvorsky in a trade to Ottawa. Much rather have a 2nd line center with upside.</div></div>
It doesn't make a lot of sense to make a "win now" move like trading for Tkachuk while subtracting a bunch of other "win now" pieces in their prime like Kyrou (and frankly, Buchnevich). You don't want to trade for Brady and then still just be a playoff bubble team.
I get why Brady is so coveted- intangibles, fighting, looks like cares out there, whatever- but it's not exactly like he's been dragging an arguably stronger group of forwards in Ottawa to victory, he's had more help than this agm-roster is giving him and he's not even PPG. Effort and reputation is going to affect a lot of opinions but strictly speaking about his on ice results- he's much closer to a Kyrou level player than most people would care to admit- Decent score but you always feel like there should be more there and he gives a lot of it back the other way.

Buch Return has to be greater than Lindholm. It is essentially buying two rentals. The return would be around 1.5 times to double what Lindholm got I imagine.
Willander would be your only great piece to make the deal happen honestly.

I agree, but unless the difference is massive between the normal TDL package for a first liner as a rental vs now, there's no reason to jump unless you love something that's being offered. Fair value isn't an option when fair value isn't fair because it's not accounting for having Buch for 2 seasons at an extremely good cap hit. If nobody wants to pay it fine, wait til next season. At least we don't run the risk of our entire group getting fractured by the loss midseason

I think it all depends. I saw a Detroit trade idea earlier today for Wallinder and Breggren plus a first and honestly if that ends up late 20’s I’d still make that deal. I’m trying to find a top D prospect on either side if I’m Army

By most accounts the decision to sell was made at last deadline for this season as well and probably next. Almost positive we wont be buying. Maybe something similar to like Kapanen off waivers, or Hayes at 50%, some sort of bargain bin deal on a player who hasn't worked out where they're at at a very cheap price.
What it does though with us at least being in the playoff conversation is it make Doug alot more likely to hold which is fine. In all reality for us it's probably better. I dont see it as a situation where he wont sell a guy like Buch, but he's also not going to take something he doesn't love.

I think you’re shooting low here or you’re valuing the pieces Calgary got back higher than I would.
Buch at 1.5 for two playoff runs is very valuable to a lot of teams. I would expect what Calgary got at next deadline for Buchnevich which may be best for all sides with how we are currently seated.

Im not saying the blues are wrong for asking it. The price is just outside of the canes MO. Buchnevich will command big money on his next deal. Canes will be unwilling to pay it because the whole deal will be in his 30s and into 35+ years of age. I don’t see them moving their 2nd best prospect who is likely on the roster next season for a guy who they will only have for 1.25 seasons.

While Strbek may be a future NHL RHD, Faulk fills a hole now!
His contract expires in 3 years just when the new wave of young guns ELC's expire.
If Faulk would wave the Sabres should close deal.
The Blues fans have not voiced an opinion yet.

I’d value buch over miller by a decent margin, also, just with how the market for high end forwards has dwindled over the past couple days and the hauls these gms have been able to acquire, I would imagine Doug Armstrong is taking calls from about half the league right now. Elite forwards stocks in general have gone up after this week
