Draft (PHI/MIN/NYI/CHI)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>futurehofer</b></div><div>I'm not a fan of the deal for Ennis. Yes it gets him off the books and saves a bit of cap, but we don't need any more LD and since we don't have a 2nd, I really don't want to give up the 63rd pick. Hutton for sure would be behind Suter and Brodin on the depth chart and very likely at least Seeler as well. We also have Soucy who will be pushing for time from Iowa. Unless we get word late in the summer that Suter will miss the majority of the season or is done for good, I don't see how he's anything more than $2.8 million worth of dead cap for us.
I think a nice counter would be Ennis at 50% retained ($2.3 million for 1 year) for a pick. Based on his production this year mainly on the 3rd and 4th lines, he's worth that cap hit.</div></div>
Very understandable. I don't think Minnesota would need to retain salary, considering the point of the trade was as a somewhat camp dump, considering his contract really is a little exorbitant. The 3rd was added value for Hutton, but if you feel he's unnecessary, what do you think about Ennis + 6th round selection? I feel that a contract plus pick for nothing is not a realistic trade for many gms, which is why I tried to incorporate a return player in Hutton. Is there a particular position you feel the wild need depth in?

rebuild avalanche
Those are both awful trades for the Canucks. The Canucks are in just as much of a rebuild as the Avalanche are, trading for Duchene makes no sense. Both Demko and Boeser are untouchable, and why you think an elite goalie prospect in Demko is worth a 36 year old defenseman, a goaltender that we traded away, and a late fourth is beyond me. Three blue chip prospects and 33rd overall is an overpayment for a centre that won't be in his prime when the Canucks need him to be.

That's not how picks work. The lottery only determines placement for the first round, afterwards, it is determined by placement in the season. New jersey's second round pick is number 35.
