(FLA/MTL) - Smilanic, 1st, 4th for Chiarot
Montreal pulled this off by telling everyone all season that Chiarot is worth a first. Eventually, they all just accepted it as fact. Amazing work by them.
Also, a 2023 pick is going to be better than a 2022 pick. That draft is loaded.

TBH, Chiarot was going to get a first, Habs fans were just cocky about it, he is a big minute munching defenseman with size, he will be good for them in the playoffs but the question I have with Florida, is that they still have cap space to make more trades, 2m I think, he's not done.

In a lesser role vs worse competition I think Chiarot will be better than analytics showed he was in MTL, but that's still a very steep price to pay

What a huge win for Montreal. 2023 1st round pick for a player who won't even be on the roster next year.
Chiarot is ideally a #4/#5 and won't push Florida over the top IMO. If Florida wins the cup, it won't be because of Chiarot
The Hughes reign has been very promising thus far

New look Jets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>Copp would be a pure rental, and the Canes have historically not made moves for pure rentals. While Drury is the Canes most NHL ready C prospect, we aren’t giving him up for Copp. I have said this about Forsberg as well. Drury is almost guaranteed a full time roster spot next year, so why would the Canes trade him for someone they wouldn’t even be able to resign? Suzuki/Rees/Ponomarev and a pick would be fair, but asking for Drury would be a reach for a Copp return. Canes pass.</div></div>
It's fair feedback.
I see a possibility of Copp resigning in Carolina.
Given what Manson fetched Anaheim, I am not sure Drury isn't that far off base, but, as I said in my explanation, I could also see where the Canes would not want to give him up.
Historically, the Canes have gone after blueline depth at the deadline, I think this year bucks a trend. I see them trying for a forward. They have a team that can win. I see them going for it, the question becomes the cost.

What
That is an overpayment for Severson, 4 prospects, a meh pick, and an NHLer, cmon now. Pass on trading Suzuki for a rental.
